Marvel's "Thunderbolts" is attracting global fans. It's been a long time since this film studio has had such appeal, as some of its previous works have been disappointing.
However, released in Vietnamese theaters since May 1, this blockbuster is currently being overshadowed by “Lat mat 8: Vong tay nang” and “Tham tu Kien: Ky an khong dau.” Figures from Box Office Vietnam show that the two Vietnamese works have an average of over 2,400 screenings per day while “Biet doi thom de” only has about 600-700 screenings per day nationwide. As of the morning of May 5 in Vietnam, “Biet doi thom de” has earned 16 billion VND.
According to observers, the difference in screenings is because April 30-May 1 is a long holiday for Vietnamese people, so cinemas prioritize domestic films. Normally, after the two films lose popularity, the screenings will gradually decrease and be divided into Marvel films, equivalent to the second week of screening.
“Detective Kien” and “Embrace of the Sun” were both released early on April 27-28 to catch up with the 5-day holiday. Currently, the two films have earned VND132 billion and VND151 billion, respectively.
“Thunder Squad” tells the story of Marvel’s first anti-hero team, a group of people with evil and dark pasts. Their mission in the film is considered the most dangerous, making other superheroes unable or unwilling to take on the task. The film has a budget of 180 million USD, making it a Hollywood blockbuster.
Commenting on the film, film blogger Lucas Luan Nguyen (35,000 followers on Facebook) said that the film delves into the psychological trauma of each person and makes the audience sympathize with their past, while also showing that each character still has the desire to live a meaningful life and fight for what is right.
Audience member Mai Tu commented that the film is not perfect but worth watching, especially for fans of this film studio. However, he also said that the number of screenings is quite limited, so fans who want to watch it must choose to "hunt" for tickets in advance or accept watching screenings during work hours.
For audiences around the world , “The Avengers” is receiving positive scores on online review sites. Rotten Tomatoes recorded 88% positive reviews - one of Marvel's highest-performing films since “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021). Metacritic recorded a score of 69/100.
After its first week of release, the film earned 162.1 million USD, surpassing previous works such as “Eternals” and “The Marvel.” Observers estimate that if it maintains stable sales, the film could raise its total revenue to 400-500 million USD./.
