Popularizing films to connect culture with community

Each film not only propagates the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws, but is also a solid bridge that contributes to arousing pride and nurturing cultural and spiritual life at the grassroots level.

Efforts to popularize films in Dong Nai

The province currently has 5 mobile film screening teams under the Dong Nai Cultural and Cinema Center. In recent years, the teams have proactively innovated the content and form of film screening to serve both political tasks and meet the people's need for cultural enjoyment. Film screening teams regularly visit remote communes, industrial parks, and resettlement areas, contributing to bringing cinema closer to the people, students, workers, and ethnic minorities.

Head of the Cinema Department of Dong Nai Cultural and Cinema Center Nguyen Tien Dung said that on average, each year, the unit's film screening teams organize 2-3 thousand screenings, serving hundreds of thousands of people. Each screening is not simply a screening of a film, but also an opportunity for community activities, integrating propaganda of policies, guidelines, and laws. Thereby, arousing patriotism, civic awareness and responsibility of the people towards their homeland and country.

“The film content chosen by the unit is diverse, prioritizing historical topics, national traditions and important national events such as April 30, May 1, May 19, National Day September 2... In addition to the films released by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST), the unit also exploits new and attractive films that are of interest to audiences, especially films for children. Thanks to that, film screening activities have strongly promoted their role as a meansof education , connecting the community, creating consensus and spreading cultural values at the grassroots level” - Mr. Dung said.

In addition to mobile film teams, non-public cinema activities in Dong Nai are also growing strongly. Most of the cinemas are invested and built by individuals and socialized enterprises with modern equipment, 3D and 4D projection technology, bringing audiences high-quality cinema experiences. These include: Lotte Cinema, CGV Bien Hoa, Beta Cineplex Bien Hoa, Phuc's Cinema, BHD Star Long Khanh, BETA Long Khanh...

Currently, Dong Nai has 10 cinemas, mainly concentrated in Bien Hoa city, Long Khanh city and Long Thanh district. The development of the non-public cinema system not only meets the increasingly diverse entertainment needs of the people, but also contributes to promoting the development of the cultural industry, creating jobs for local workers and improving the quality of spiritual life for the community.

Cinema close to the people

Although cinema activities have been and are being invested in, according to the assessment of Dong Nai cultural managers, cinema is still not the province's strength in developing the cultural industry. The equipment system of public cinemas is still limited, not keeping up with the modernity and convenience of private cinema complexes. The support policy for the dissemination of films to serve mountainous areas, islands, remote areas, children, and political tasks stipulated in Clause 5, Article 5 of the Cinema Law has not been implemented due to lack of funding.

According to Director of Dong Nai Cultural - Cinema Center Ton Thi Thanh Tinh, although there are still many difficulties, with continuous efforts, the unit has been maintaining and organizing effective film screening activities, serving political tasks, ensuring that all people have access to valuable and educational cinematographic works. Film screening activities are also integrated with community activities, cultural exchanges, creating a joyful atmosphere, spreading Dong Nai cultural values.

In order for cinema to continue to play its role as a cultural bridge, the film screening teams of Dong Nai Cultural - Cinema Center are continuing to innovate film screening activities, invest in upgrading equipment, diversify film sources and forms of propaganda, and expand the area to attract a large number of people to participate. This is a practical direction to maintain and promote the effectiveness of film dissemination, contributing to enriching spiritual life, preserving and spreading good cultural values in the community in the province.

On June 16, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported on the summary and evaluation of the dissemination of films serving political tasks in Dong Nai province from 2018 to 2024 to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Accordingly, the department requested the Department of Cinema (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) to continue to increase the supply of new films to meet the requirements and tastes of viewers; at the same time, there should be a mechanism to support and guide the purchase of copyrights and the distribution of films ordered by the State to provinces and cities to serve political tasks.
