Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Nguyen Manh Tien was pleased to note that the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has continued to develop positively in recent times. Most recently, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with President V. Putin during the Russian President's State visit to Vietnam.

The Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee emphasized that Vietnam considers its relations with the Russian Federation to be of strategic importance. The Russian Federation is a leading important partner in Vietnam's foreign policy. Vietnam wants to promote cooperation with the Russian Federation in all fields, for the common interests of the two peoples, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world .

Ambassador Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko said that the Vietnam - Russian Federation relationship has made strong progress, continuing the tradition of good relations between the two peoples. The Ambassador believes that with close cooperation on all channels, the relationship between the two countries will develop further in all fields, increasingly deepening, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

The Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee also stated that inter-parliamentary cooperation is one of the important pillars in the friendly cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in recent times and has been constantly consolidated and developed well; the two sides have the Inter-parliamentary Cooperation Committee mechanism, which is the highest-level cooperation mechanism of the Vietnamese National Assembly with foreign parliaments.

The Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee suggested that the Ambassador continue to cooperate closely with agencies of the Vietnamese National Assembly to promote delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-level delegations between the two legislative bodies; increase exchange activities between the two Parliamentary Friendship Groups of the two countries' National Assemblies, contributing to promoting the good relationship between the two countries, the two National Assemblies and the two peoples.

Ambassador Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko agreed with the assessment on inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries; said that the National Assemblies of the two countries need to continue exchanging delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, further promoting the role of the Friendship Parliamentary Group as well as parliamentarians, strengthening coordination and mutual support at international parliamentary forums. The Ambassador affirmed that he will do his best to play the role of a "bridge" to promote the relationship between the two countries and the two legislative bodies to become increasingly in-depth, substantive and effective.

At the meeting, the two sides also discussed upcoming cooperation activities between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian Federation Council and State Duma.
