Accordingly, the working group inspected the fishing ports of Dan Phuoc (Xuan Dai ward), Tien Chau (Tuy An Dong commune), Dong Tac ( Phu Yen ward) and aquaculture areas in Xuan Dai bay, Cu Mong lagoon and Cu Lao Mai Nha...
Reporting to the working group, the Department of Agriculture and Environment said that the whole province currently has 2,989 fishing vessels registered on the National Fisheries Database System; more than 1,000 fishing vessels are not qualified to operate, of which 80 have switched to aquaculture and 20 have been damaged or sunk but have not been removed from the registration list.
After a long period of exploitation, the fishing ports of Dan Phuoc and Tien Chau are currently overloaded, the output of aquatic products through the port has exceeded the threshold. In particular, Dong Tac fishing port is planned as a type I fishing port (specialized tuna port), the output of aquatic products through the port is 15,000 tons/year, but the port has only been announced to open a type II fishing port.
Currently, the whole province has about 186,036 marine aquaculture cages, with a total volume of more than 2.5 million m³. Of which, the two key farming areas are Xuan Dai Bay and Cu Mong Lagoon with more than 134,000 cages. Most of them are raised spontaneously by people, leading to many problems in planning, management and arrangement.
After conducting a field inspection and listening to reports from departments, branches and localities, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thien Van requested localities to strictly manage the fleet, especially those that are no longer in working condition. Damaged vessels that are no longer in operation must be reviewed and deregistered according to regulations; absolutely do not allow fishing gear to remain on these vessels to prevent illegal fishing.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested to accelerate the completion of registration dossiers, issuance of fishing licenses, issuance of food safety certificates and installation of voyage monitoring equipment for fishing vessels operating offshore. At the same time, localities must strengthen propaganda and guide fishermen to strictly comply with regulations, ensuring that all vessels entering and leaving ports have confirmation from functional units. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested sectors and localities to urgently complete conditions and be ready to welcome the inspection team of the European Commission scheduled to work in the province in October 2025.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with relevant units to continue investing in upgrading fishing ports according to the roadmap; for aquaculture activities, he suggested that localities need to continue rearranging cages according to the approved Project, ensuring absolutely no new cages are created; at the same time, propagandize and mobilize people to reinforce small aquatic cages, ensuring safety during the rainy and stormy season.
On the same day, the working group also inspected the aquatic seed production area of Dac Loc Aquatic Products Company Limited.
