Details of the 2025 high school graduation exam score distribution for math:
This year, the math exam for the high school graduation exam has been hotly debated, especially on social networking sites. Many opinions say that this year's math exam is difficult and "as long as an essay" causing "overwhelming" candidates, with even good students only getting 7 points.
Some teachers and university lecturers commented that this year's math exam has a higher level of differentiation and challenge than the sample exam. In 90 minutes, candidates will hardly be able to solve all the questions, but need to choose strategically and focus on familiar and strong types of questions.
Responding after the exam, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha - Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministryof Education and Training, Head of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam Committee - said that the structure and content of this year's exam have completely changed compared to previous years. Candidates who have prepared thoroughly during their study and review will meet the requirements of the exam better than other candidates.
Mr. Ha also said that in order to avoid sudden innovation, in 2024 the ministry issued the exam format structure and published sample exam questions so that students would be familiar with the format structure and teachers would also be able to guide students.
According to statistics, the whole country has over 1.16 million candidates taking the high school graduation exam in 2025, an increase of nearly 100,000 compared to last year.
This year's exam is organized for two groups of candidates: the group taking the exam according to the 2018 general education program (also known as the new program) with more than 1.13 million students, and the group taking the exam according to the 2006 program (old program) with about 25,000 students.
This year, the graduation recognition score includes the scores of the subjects the candidate took the exam (accounting for 50%); the average score (GPA) of the years of high school (accounting for 50%) and priority points and incentive points, if any.
The formula for calculating graduation recognition scores in 2025 is as follows:
