The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated Ambassador Marc Knapper's extensive, effective activities and active connections in economics , trade and investment; effective connections between the two governments and between the business community and the government; playing an active role in promoting cooperation and implementing agreements on climate change, clean energy, etc.
On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister sent his congratulations to the American people on the occasion of National Day (July 4, 1776 - July 4, 2025), and emphasized the significance of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - US diplomatic relations. The two sides have made efforts to overcome difficulties to build a comprehensive strategic partnership, demonstrating the spirit of respecting the past and looking towards the future of Vietnam.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always considers the United States a strategic partner in economics and trade, however, the two sides need to continue removing barriers, especially in trade, investment and high technology.
The Deputy Prime Minister proposed that the United States soon recognize Vietnam as a market economy, creating more favorable conditions for accessing high technology, especially in the fields of energy, mining and strategic industries. Vietnam is ready to cooperate comprehensively, sharing benefits and risks with the United States in long-term cooperation projects, based on the principles of transparency and fairness.
The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized his wish that the United States would support Vietnam in developing the field of artificial intelligence (AI), through technology transfer, investment, training and joint ventures - creating a new symbol of cooperation between the two countries in the future.

Thanking the Deputy Prime Minister for taking the time to meet him, Ambassador Marc Knapper affirmed the great significance of the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries. From its humble beginnings in 1995, the Vietnam-US relationship has developed into a comprehensive strategic partnership with extensive cooperation in all areas: trade, defense, energy, education, culture...
Sharing Vietnam's development goals, such as becoming a green economy by 2050, a high-income economy by 2045, and a high-tech economy in the future, Ambassador Marc Knapper affirmed that the United States wishes to accompany and is ready to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the fields of high technology, artificial intelligence, strategic mineral supply chains, data, and education.
At the meeting, the USAID representative shared about the decision to close the office in Vietnam according to the US Government's global adjustment policy. However, USAID will continue to transfer important programs to the US Department of State, such as HIV/AIDS prevention, war aftermath, environmental protection and public health programs...
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha acknowledged USAID's practical and persistent contributions to Vietnam over the past three decades, becoming an important bridge of culture, economy and trust between the two countries; affirming that "USAID's mission and bilateral cooperation will continue to be maintained and enhanced".
