Parents take their children to take the 10th grade entrance exam: "Behind the child is always the support of the family"

From 7:45 am on June 7, at many examination sites in Hanoi, candidates participating in the 10th grade entrance exam were gathered in large numbers. After completing the roll call procedure, the students quickly settled into their seats, ready for the first exam: the Literature exam.

According to the plan, candidates will take the Literature exam within 120 minutes. This is also the first time the Literature exam will not use materials from textbooks.

This change forces candidates to master the genre, have reading comprehension and writing skills to complete the exam requirements instead of memorizing knowledge.

This exam is also the first year that students studying the 2018 generaleducation program take the exam. And Hanoi city also has changes in the exam method, exam structure, as well as the way to calculate admission scores.

Taking the exam at Tran Phu High School, candidate Hoang Nguyen (living in Hoang Mai district) expressed his concern: "My strength is natural sciences , however, for this morning's Literature exam, I also carefully prepared. In addition to reading and referring to good articles, I also learned how to develop an outline so as not to miss any content when doing the test."

Many candidates said that instead of worrying and being passive about the changes in the Literature exam, they focused on studying early with the expectation of achieving good results.

Sitting waiting for her child to take the 10th grade entrance exam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Trang (living in Hoang Mai district) said: "This morning, the Literature exam is my child's favorite subject. Although this year, the Literature exam will change, it will not affect my child's studies too much. Because up to now, my child has had a suitable study method for this subject."

"I just hope that my child passes his first choice and gets into his favorite school. That will be the sweet fruit of his efforts over the past time. He always has the support of his family behind him," Ms. Trang told reporters.

In the same situation, Ms. Hoang Thu Phuong (residing in Long Bien district) could not help but feel nervous: "Since 5:30, my family has been up preparing to take my child to the exam. Instead of going home, I decided to stay near the exam site to wait and cheer for my child."

It is known that Hoang Quoc Dat, Thu Phuong's son, has been preparing for the transfer exam for nearly 2 years.

"My family believes that studying is a process. Therefore, careful investment is needed in advance. My child's goal is to get at least a 9 in Math and Foreign Language. As for Literature, my goal is to get a 7.5 because this year's exam is predicted to be quite difficult," Ms. Phuong shared.

As the exam date approaches, Covid-19 and pink eye outbreaks are occurring in some areas, making Ms. Thu Phuong even more worried.

"I have increased my child's nutrition with nutritious foods to increase his resistance. Besides, I do not put pressure on him but only encourage him so that he has the spirit to do his best on the test," Ms. Phuong added.
