Professor, Dr. Phan Luong Cam was born on March 5, 1943 in Thua Thien-Hue. She is a famous scientist in the field of electrochemistry and metal corrosion in Vietnam and is one of the founders and first presidents of the Vietnam Association of Corrosion and Metal Protection Science and Technology.

In addition, she was also the President of the Asia-Pacific Corrosion and Materials Association for the term 1999-2001, President of the 11th Asia-Pacific Corrosion International Conference held in Ho Chi Minh City in 1999 and a member of the International Advisory Board of many other Asia-Pacific Corrosion International Conferences.

Since 1965, she has been a lecturer at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. In 1968, she was sent by the State to do research at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Soviet Union.

After successfully defending her doctoral thesis in electrochemistry and metal corrosion, in early 1973, she returned to Vietnam and continued teaching and research at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

During more than 4 decades of teaching and scientific research, Professor, Dr. Phan Luong Cam has trained many courses of undergraduates, masters, and doctors, and presided over many meaningful scientific projects, including many state-level scientific topics and projects, and international cooperation topics on scientific research. She is also the author of invention patents and utility solution patents.

In addition to teaching and research, she was also the founder and Director of the Center for Corrosion and Metal Protection Research - Hanoi University of Science and Technology from 1996 until her retirement in 2008.

Professor, Dr. Phan Luong Cam received the Kovalevskaia Prize in 1995, the Labor Medal and many medals and certificates of merit for her contributions to education, science and technology, women's advancement and child protection.
