Ms. Ma Ly Dam (born in 1988) is a Cham ethnic minority. As the head of the Ha Bao II Women's Union, she always completes well the tasks assigned by the Women's Union of the town. She is close to the members to propagate and guide the implementation of the union's work and the "5 no, 3 clean" movement associated with building a prosperous, progressive and happy family. She has connected to establish a Cham ethnic women's group to limit the use of nylon bags and disposable plastic products with 30 members; a group to collect and classify household waste in floating villages with 76 members; a group of women not to let jars encroach on corridors, sidewalks, and not to litter, with 25 members. Thanks to doing this work well, the Cham ethnic minority has raised awareness, kept the environment clean, and their houses are more spacious and clean.
Ms. Ma Ly Dam also regularly visits, encourages, and understands the thoughts, aspirations, and economic development needs of female members. From there, she guides them to have stable jobs, increase their income, and improve their family life. With the traditional sewing and brocade weaving profession of the Cham ethnic minority, Ms. Ma Ly Dam connects members to establish a group to sew brocade products to supply to tourists. Thereby, increasing family income and developing the craft village. She also enthusiastically teaches young girls to sew, embroider, and bead... to gain skills, create their own products, increase their income, and improve their lives. Sa Ky Roh said: "Thanks to Ms. Ma Ly Dam's guidance on sewing and beading, I have a job and an income of 120,000 - 150,000 VND/day, enough for daily expenses and to help my family."
Guide Cham women to sew traditional ethnic products
Not only helping with vocational training, Ms. Ma Ly Dam also mobilized Cham ethnic women to establish 4 revolving capital contribution groups, with 213 women participating to support business conditions, trading, and livestock raising. Up to now, 144 women have been helped, with a total amount of more than 2.25 billion VND. "Ms. Ma Ly Dam regularly meets and propagates women to know "5 no 3 clean". In particular, she supports women to borrow capital to do business, stabilize their lives, raise their children to study, and not let their children drop out of school" - Ms. Ay Seh said...
Although the work of the Women's Union requires a lot of time and effort, Ms. Ma Ly Dam always gives love and thoughtful care to her family. "To ensure harmony between work and family, I arrange my time reasonably for each job. In particular, I receive sharing and sympathy from family members" - Ms. Ma Ly Dam shared.
Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Da Phuoc town Nguyen Thi Bach Le said that the most difficult thing for women is to balance the two roles of family and work, but Ms. Ma Ly Dam has done this very well. With much effort and dedication to work and family, Ms. Ma Ly Dam has contributed to showing the image of a modern Vietnamese woman, capable, good at both national affairs and housework.
With her positive contributions and effective implementation of the “2 good” movement (good at public affairs, good at housework), Ms. Ma Ly Dam was awarded many certificates of merit by the Women’s Union at all levels. Her achievements throughout her career are worthy rewards for her personal efforts and are encouragement, pride, and honor for the value of Vietnamese women in the new era.
