Phu Xuyen supports OCOP products of craft villages

From that advantage, together with local support, the district has 231 OCOP products, of which products from craft villages account for 70%. Phu Xuyen is one of the leading districts in the city in implementing the OCOP Program.

Bui Xuan Loi, the owner of the wooden, mother-of-pearl, and handicraft production facility in Son Ha commune (one of the typical OCOP products of Phu Xuyen district), shared that since the wooden handicraft products were recognized as 4-star OCOP products, his production facility has received great attention and support from the district government. Promotional programs, participation in fairs, and online sales training activities have helped the facility access the market more easily. This not only increases sales, but also increases brand recognition for craft village products.

According to statistics of Phu Xuyen District People's Committee, 100% of the district's villages have crafts. Currently, the number of households producing handicrafts in the area is 25,400, accounting for 39% of the total number of households in the district. The economy of households doing handicrafts is higher than that of purely agricultural households, the estimated average income of workers in craft villages is 78 million VND/person/year. Many craft villages in the district have been granted collective trademarks by the Department of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology) such as: Phu Yen leather shoes, Co Hoang confectionery, Nam Tien interior woodwork, Van Hoang incense...

In reality, after the entities whose products are recognized by the city and district as meeting OCOP standards, production and business have many advantages, creating prestige with customers, increasing product competitiveness in the market, increasing revenue year after year, maintaining and creating jobs for many workers.

Currently, the consumption market for products of OCOP entities in Phu Xuyen is mainly domestic. In addition, there are some OCOP entities with export products, such as: Rattan woven by Hien Luong Export Rattan and Bamboo Company Limited and Hung Viet Rattan and Bamboo Construction and Trading Company Limited (Phu Tuc commune); handicraft products of Phuoc Uyen Handicraft Cooperative (Phu Xuyen town) and Sachi products of Kim Thong Trade, Service, Tourism and Import-Export Cooperative (Phuc Tien commune).

Infrastructure and trade support

According to Vice Chairman of Phu Xuyen District People's Committee Nguyen Trong Vinh, realizing the district's advantage of having many craft villages, developing craft village economy has an important position and role in promoting economic restructuring and building new rural areas of the district, in recent times, Phu Xuyen has focused on directing and proposing many solutions to develop craft villages associated with the OCOP Program and achieved some important results.

Regarding infrastructure development, the district has planned 12 industrial clusters of craft villages with a total area of ​​over 114 hectares, of which 4/12 clusters have been established with a total area of ​​over 30.5 hectares. In 2024, the district proposed the city to establish 4 more industrial clusters of craft villages: Phuong Duc (7 hectares); Son Ha (5 hectares); Van Hoang (12.5 hectares), Nam Tien (32 hectares) to support craft villages in expanding production areas.

Along with that, Phu Xuyen has now had 3 communes recognized by the City People's Committee as having craft village tourism spots: Van Tu sewing; Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay and lacquer; Phu Yen leather shoes. Phu Xuyen District chose October 26 as the day to honor traditional craft villages, and has so far organized 8 festivals, both to honor and support promotion, search, and market expansion for craft villages, production and business establishments.

In 2023, the District People's Committee established and launched the district's e-commerce platform with the domain name http://phuxuyen.trangvangvietnam.top and 325 businesses and establishments have posted information of nearly 1,000 products (including 114 OCOP products) on the trading platform. In recent years, every year Phu Xuyen has coordinated with the city's departments and branches to organize exhibitions, displays, and festivals on OCOP products and craft villages. In addition, the district has introduced many entities with certified OCOP products to participate in fairs organized by the city's departments and branches and neighboring districts.

Although there have been many positive results, in order for the OCOP Program in the district to be more effective, Phu Xuyen hopes that the city and related departments and branches will support more funding for the district to implement the first certification assessment, re-certification of OCOP products every year; support promotion and market search for craft village products, agricultural products, especially OCOP certified products...

With investment attention, craft villages of Phu Xuyen district are increasingly affirming their position in contributing to socio-economic development, with great room for developing OCOP products of the district and Hanoi city.
