Amorim is advised to give Chido Obi a chance. |
Sesko left the field with a knee injury in the dramatic 2-2 draw with Tottenham on November 8. The Slovenian striker is expected to be out for about a month. Coach Ruben Amorim admitted: "I am worried about the injury because it is related to the knee. We need Ben to improve the squad, but we cannot know exactly at the moment."
Sesko's temporary absence leaves United with Joshua Zirkzee as their natural striker, opening up the possibility of changing tactics or finding an emergency backup plan. However, former striker Dwight Yorke advised Amorim not to rush into temporary signings, but to give opportunities to young players.
Yorke emphasized: "Amorim needs to invest in young players, creating opportunities when Sesko is injured. If bringing in a temporary solution, as recent history shows, MU will find it difficult to improve the squad. U23 players are available to take over at the moment."
The former player specifically mentioned Chido Obi, who joined MU from Arsenal in 2024. The 18-year-old Nigerian striker made seven Premier League appearances last season and is currently playing for the U23 team. Yorke believes Obi could replace Sesko temporarily, helping the team maintain the rhythm of play and take advantage of opportunities for young players.
MU will return to the Premier League on November 24th with a match against Everton. With the schedule at the end of the year becoming more tense, coach Amorim clearly needs more backup options to strengthen the squad.
