Mao Khe Ward was established on the basis of merging Mao Khe, Xuan Son, Kim Son, Yen Tho wards, with an area of 46.55km² and a population of over 72,000 people. The headquarters of the Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee of Mao Khe ward has been invested in, expanded, and modernized, meeting the requirements of concentrated and professional work of the ward government apparatus after the merger.

Immediately after the merger, Mao Khe ward quickly consolidated its organizational structure, built and supplemented working regulations, and innovated leadership and management methods. The government apparatus operated stably and effectively, ensuring the principle of "right person, right job, right process". From July 1 to July 15, 2025, the ward's on-time file handling rate reached 100%; over 96% of files were processed online.

According to statistics, the average economic growth rate in the period of 2020-2025 of Mao Khe ward reached 14.5%; total production value reached more than 23,391 billion VND; average income per capita reached 10,000 USD/person/year. The economic structure shifted positively towards increasing the proportion of industry - services, reducing the proportion of agriculture.

In the industrial and construction sector, clean coal output reached about 2.5 million tons/year; brick and tile output reached 300 million standard bricks. Trade and services developed strongly with 6,509 business households; commercial centers, markets, and experiential tourism areas such as: Ha Lan Water Park, Tan Viet Bac urban area... each year welcomed about 2 million visitors. After the merger, Mao Khe ward's urban area has become increasingly spacious and modern.

Along with economic development, Mao Khe ward pays special attention to investing in technical infrastructure and urban beautification. The total social investment capital in 5 years (2020-2025) reached nearly 30,800 billion VND. A series of large projects have been and are being implemented, such as: Riverside road, central road, Central square, paving sidewalks and undergrounding National Highway 18A, inter-ward road. New urban areas are invested synchronously and modernly, the infrastructure of vertical sectors stationed in the area is also invested synchronously and modernly such as: Court, Procuracy, Bank... Public works, sports fields, community activity spots are also invested from socialized sources, practically serving people's lives.

Land and resource planning and management in the area have been implemented synchronously and effectively. Planning layers have been established and approved in accordance with higher-level planning, ensuring connectivity and long-term development orientation. Architectural management regulations have been specifically implemented in each neighborhood, contributing to improving the effectiveness of construction investment management according to planning, especially for the construction of individual houses of the people. Land allocation, land lease, land recovery, and land use purpose conversion activities are all carried out in accordance with approved land use planning and plans.

Currently, 100% of residential areas meet cultural standards; there are no more poor or near-poor households; the rate of trained workers is 90%; universal health insurance is 99.9%; the rate of malnourished children has decreased to 6%.

Traffic routes have been upgraded and expanded; lighting systems, trees, drainage, etc. have been invested synchronously, contributing to clearly changing the urban appearance and improving the quality of life of the people.

With the goal of comprehensive development, Mao Khe ward sets the following goals for the 2025-2030 period: Average GRDP growth rate of 15%/year; economic structure shifting towards industry - services with the proportion of industry - construction of 63 - 65%, service - trade of 33 - 35% and agriculture - forestry - fishery under 1.5%; total social investment capital averaging about 10%/year; average social labor productivity growth rate increasing by 11-12%/year; average income per capita reaching over 16,765 USD/year; the rate of party members and party organizations completing their annual tasks well reaching over 90%.
