West forms 'air defense alliance' to support Ukraine

In a speech on the night of November 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the group of 20 countries was established during an online conference of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) to consider Kyiv's military needs.

The German Defense Ministry had previously announced the formation of the group on the social network X, with Germany and France taking on the leadership of the group. "Not everything can be revealed publicly at this time, but Ukraine's air defense shield is getting stronger every month," Reuters quoted Zelensky as saying.

Ukrainian military commander Valery Zaluzhniy described the situation along the 1,000km front as "complicated but manageable".
