In Quang Binh province, Prudential Vietnam Life Insurance Company (Prudential) organized a workshop for local parents with the theme "Teaching children about finance with Cha-Ching".
The event is part of a series of activities under the Cha-Ching smart financial management project jointly implemented by Prudential and the Successful Youth Organization (JA Vietnam) over the past 5 years. The workshop “Teaching children about finance with Cha-Ching” for parents aims to provide parents with an effective, approachable, and highly applicable financial education method. Through this, parents can confidently share knowledge and skills with their children as well as accompany their children in making smart financial decisions.
The event attracted more than 260 attendees, mostly parents with primary school-age children who have learned about smart financial management with Cha-Ching in the 2023-2024 school year.

At the workshop, parents participated in and experienced fun challenges at interactive game booths. Through this, parents were tested on their confidence in handling financial management questions from their children.
Also from the parents' Q&A section, the project's experts will identify the main groups of problems that parents encounter wheneducating their children about financial management. From there, the project will propose to parents appropriate solutions for each group of problems.
Mr. Dinh Cong Hanh (39 years old), a parent with a child in grade 5 at Bao Ninh Primary School No. 2 (Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh) said: “The biggest benefit I see is the opportunity to be close to and share with my child as he grows up. In my opinion, family education plays an extremely important role in shaping the future of children. Accompanying Cha-Ching, I see how to teach children to manage finances, how to orient them on what is right and wrong. In many things, financial management is important, so that later on, children will understand the value of money and do many things that are useful to society.”

This event marks the 5th year of the Cha-Ching Smart Money Management Project. To date, the project has equipped more than 110,000 students and 3,000 teachers with financial management knowledge and skills in 314 schools in 7 provinces and cities including Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Quang Ninh, Quang Binh, Dong Nai and Dong Thap.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Cha-Ching project also organized a financial management class at the SOS Children's Village in Quang Binh. Children aged 7-12 attended the class taught by volunteer teachers who were certified to meet the program's standards.
The content revolves around financial management skills in 4 topics: Earning money, saving money, spending money and donating money, along with practical activities following the method of "learning while playing - playing while learning", students not only enthusiastically participate and contribute to the lecture but also acquire a lot of useful basic knowledge.

The 2023-2024 school year is the first year Cha-Ching has been implemented in primary schools in Quang Binh province, bringing smart financial management knowledge to more than 4,800 students and 135 teachers in 22 primary schools in Dong Hoi city.
The evaluation results after one year of project implementation showed many encouraging signs: 100% of teachers trained in financial management passed the Cha-Ching Certified Financial Plan (CCFA) exam with good results, more than 90% of students showed progress in the tests of thinking, behavior and attitude towards financial management. This is the motivation for Cha-Ching to continue to be widely deployed to other districts and towns of Quang Binh province in the 2024-2025 school year.
Assessing the changes when students have access to Cha-Ching, teacher Nguyen Thi Bich Dao - Vice Principal of Bao Ninh Primary School No. 2 (Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh) said: "Students know how to share with their parents and teachers about their wishes, goals and how to make plans to achieve those goals. Especially financial goals and plans. Besides, they also understand that financial management is not only for themselves, but also to share and help others.

Myself and the school really want to spread the program further. Through accompanying children in learning, as well as applying skills such as building financial plans, managing expenses, making financial decisions, parents have the opportunity to better understand their children's personalities, financial thinking, and dreams, eliminating the gap between parents and children when discussing issues of mutual concern.

About the Cha-Ching project
Cha-Ching Smart Money is a financial education program for children, developed in collaboration with Prudence Foundation, Cartoon Network Asia and Emmy Award-winning children's education expert Dr. Alice Wilder. Cha-Ching educates children aged 7-12 and adults about the importance of financial management, revolving around 4 skills: Earn, Save, Spend and Donate.
After more than 10 years of implementation, Cha-Ching has been taught in 16 countries and territories in Asia and Africa. Competitions revolving around financial management for children and family financial management were also held, creating a useful playground for children, teachers and parents to practice smart financial management skills in life.
