PSG shocked, demanding Kylian Mbappe to compensate nearly 100 million euros

The dispute between Kylian Mbappe and his former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is becoming increasingly tense, as both sides are taking each other to court with a request for huge compensation.

In early April, Mbappe was granted a temporary freeze of 55 million euros in PSG's account. This is the amount of money that he believes the club owes him. However, at the latest hearing on May 12, PSG argued that Mbappe did not provide enough evidence that the club owed him money and also did not prove that there was a risk of being "defaulted" on the money.

Not stopping there, PSG also filed a counter-suit against Mbappe, demanding that he pay 98 million euros in compensation. According to the club's lawyer, the French striker caused damage to PSG by being "disloyal" and taking actions that damaged the team's image and finances. However, they also said they did not expect to receive this money immediately, but only wanted to prove that Mbappe also had financial obligations to PSG.

Currently, the €55 million freeze requested by PSG by Mbappe only applies to about €14 million. Representatives of the Paris team said the club's financial situation is still very stable, with a revenue of €800 million per year and an estimated value of more than €4 billion. They believe the freeze request is unnecessary.

Mbappe's side responded, saying that PSG deliberately made things difficult because they were unhappy with his departure after 7 years of association. The striker's lawyer also emphasized that the lack of financial transparency and the control of the Qatari owners at PSG made it risky to recover the money.

The issue was further complicated by the fact that a sports body had previously demanded that PSG pay Mbappe €55 million, but could not do so as the case was taken to civil court. PSG also claimed that the two sides had a verbal agreement last summer, in which the star, now at Real Madrid, agreed to give up part of his bonus to help the club stabilize its finances. Mbappe's side denied this, calling it a "fabrication".

The next hearing is scheduled for May 26 and it could be a major turning point for legal disputes in European football.
