Telegrams sent to Military Regions: 3, 4, 5; Military Services: Navy, Air Defense - Air Force; Vietnam Border Guard, Vietnam Coast Guard; Army Corps 18, stated: According to the bulletin of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 4:00 a.m. on August 8, the low pressure area in the North East Sea strengthened into a tropical depression.
At 4:00 a.m., the center of the tropical depression was at about 19.1 degrees North latitude; 118.2 degrees East longitude in the North East Sea. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was level 6 (39-49 km/h), gusting to level 8; moving in the West Northwest direction at a speed of about 10-15 km/h.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 to 48 hours, the tropical depression will move in the West-Northwest direction at a speed of about 10-15km/hour, level 6 intensity, gusting to level 8, about 550km northeast of Hoang Sa special zone, and may gradually weaken into a low pressure area.
To proactively respond to the tropical depression causing strong winds, big waves and thunderstorms at sea, the Department of Search and Rescue (General Staff) requested agencies and units to grasp the weather situation and developments of the tropical depression, ensuring safety for forces and vehicles when performing tasks at sea.
At the same time, agencies and units proactively mobilize forces and means to be ready to participate in search and rescue when requested. The Border Guard Command directs the Border Guards of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Da Nang to coordinate with local authorities and functional agencies to promptly notify vehicle owners and captains of ships and boats operating at sea of the location and direction of the tropical depression so that they can proactively prevent, avoid, and ensure the safety of people, vehicles, and property.
