Russian troops are closing in on the city center of Kupyansk.
The encirclement is gradually narrowing, the army continues to surround the Russian troops in the center of Kupyansk, approaching the eastern outskirts of the Petropavlovka area.

The Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) have expanded their control over the center of Kupyansk and closed the encirclement around part of the defense line of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Currently, the assault units of the RFAF Western Group of Forces have entered the Yubileyny area in the southwest of the city. The Military Review reports that RFAF assault units continue to drive Ukrainian troops out of Kupyansk. After capturing the area near the car market, the Russians crossed the railway near Estakadnaya (Estakadny) station and took control of the area between Studencheskaya and Grigory Skovorody streets. Moreover, a fairly large area north of Kuznechnaya Street, including Kupyansk-Yuzhny station, has fallen under Russian control.
With the new advance of the Russian army in the city of Kupyansk, the Ukrainian defense line in the city had to be narrowed; to escape the encirclement, the Ukrainian army had to cross Studencheskaya Street, which was being attacked from both sides. According to Vitaly Ganchev, head of the pro-Russian Kharkiv Civil -Military Administration, about 70% of Kupyansk is now under RFAF control. These figures are only estimates, as the city still has many gray zones where neither Russian nor Ukrainian troops are present. The Russian news agency TASS reported that the RFAF offensive in the city is very fierce. The RFAF Western Group has pushed the Ukrainian troops out of their defensive positions, advancing from Ivanovka towards Petropavlivka, or rather the southern outskirts of the village. Here, the Russians have penetrated the Ukrainian defenses and are continuing to expand their bridgehead positions. If they continue to advance in this direction, they will reach the Gnilitsa reservoir and the Oskil River, as well as Krasnaya Petropavlivka Street. Currently, the distance between the positions captured by the Russians and the outskirts of this village is less than 2 km.
In general, the pace of Russian advances in the area south of Kupyansk has been relatively slow, due to many difficulties. The reason is that the AFU has built a strong defensive zone here, in which a number of villages are defensive positions, which the RFAF has so far not been able to overrun. A more realistic option for the RFAF at present would be to capture the Kupyansk city area and cut off the Ukrainian group east of the city from its supply lines. However, to achieve this, Ukrainian resistance would have to be broken at Kupyansk itself. Earlier, Russian troops approached the village of Petropavlivka, but AFU, reinforced by reinforcements, pushed the Russians out of the village. According to the latest information, Russian troops are making advances in the city, but Ukrainian troops are still fiercely resisting. The battle for the center of Kupyansk continues to rage, with RFAF assault units advancing from the north of the city, gradually clearing the western part of the city, which threatens to cut off the last supply lines to the Ukrainian army. The RVvoenkory channel reported that the assault groups of the RFAF Western Group of Forces have captured the local government building and are in a position to encircle the remaining Ukrainian units in the northern suburbs. At the same time, Russian troops continue to consolidate their positions in the southwest of the city, expanding the zone of control and occupying several residential areas.
To the southeast of the city, Russian troops continued to bypass the Yubileyny district, threatening access to the southern routes leading into the city. Meanwhile, a breakthrough of the AFU defenses in the central area of Kupyansk was successful, allowing Russian troops to reach the bridge over the Oskil River. The Military Summary channel reported that the 68th Motorized Rifle Division of the 6th Combined Army of the Leningrad Military District conducted attacks north of Kupyansk (Kolodeznoye, Kutkovka, Doroshovka) and east of Kupyansk (Petropavlovka, Peschanoye, Stepovaya Novosyolovka), supported by the Molniya UAV unit. The city center is surrounded by Russian infantry. Further south, at Kovsharovka and Osinovo, the Russian Aerospace Forces are attacking enemy logistics and defense lines with UMPK glide bombs; the logistical supply to the Ukrainian troops at Kupyansk is cut off from a distance.
According to military experts, the Ukrainian garrison in Kupyansk is now facing the risk of being surrounded. They still have a chance to escape the encirclement, but it is very slim.
