At the meeting, Ajit Doval stated that New Delhi is ready to maintain effective and practical communication with Beijing and that India aims to continuously build the conditions for a "final solution." Over the past five years, with the joint efforts of both sides, the relevant issues in the border region have been satisfactorily resolved, which is of great significance.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi referred to the bilateral meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, Russia, in October. The two leaders positively assessed the progress in resolving related issues in the border region and reached important consensus on improving and developing bilateral relations.
Looking back over the past 70 years, the Chinese Foreign Minister emphasized that the most valuable lesson in the history of Sino-Indian relations is the adherence to the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries on bilateral relations, aiming to establish a correct understanding of each other, upholding the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, and resolving disagreements appropriately through dialogue and consultation.
Wang Yi added: “As two of the world’s largest developing countries, representatives of emerging economies and important members of the Southern Hemisphere, the healthy and stable development of China-India relations is in line with the fundamental interests of more than 2.8 billion people in both countries and is consistent with the historical trend of remarkable growth in the Southern Hemisphere.”
