At the meeting, Mr. Ajit Doval stated that New Delhi is willing to maintain effective communication with Beijing in a pragmatic manner and that India aims to continuously accumulate conditions for a "final solution". Over the past five years, with the joint efforts of both sides, relevant issues in the border area have been satisfactorily resolved, which is of great significance.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi referred to the bilateral meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, Russia, in October. The two leaders positively assessed the progress in resolving relevant issues in the border area and reached important consensus on improving and developing bilateral relations.
Looking back over the past 70 years, the Chinese Foreign Minister stressed that the most valuable lesson in the history of China-India relations is to adhere to the strategic instructions of the two countries' leaders on bilateral relations, to establish a correct understanding of each other, to adhere to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and to properly resolve differences through dialogue and consultation.
“As two major developing countries in the world, representatives of emerging economies and important members of the Global South, the healthy and stable development of China-India relations conforms to the fundamental interests of the more than 2.8 billion people in the two countries and is in line with the historical trend of the Global South's remarkable growth,” Wang added.
