Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, said: Every year, the Department has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan for state management of beliefs and religions; to improve the organization and efficiency of the staff from the province to the grassroots level; to organize professional training for civil servants and non-professional staff at the commune level; to inspect the activities of religious groups; to coordinate with other sectors to visit and encourage religious organizations and dignitaries on important holidays, such as Buddha's Birthday and Easter. At the same time, it focuses on coordinating to solve religious issues, associated with socio -economic development, improving people's lives, especially in ethnic minority areas following religion.
Every year, all levels and sectors organize conferences and dialogues with religious dignitaries and followers to grasp the situation, thoughts and aspirations of religious people; all legitimate recommendations are taken into account by the government and resolved according to regulations. Up to now, the province has established the Executive Committee of the Buddhist Sangha. Religious dignitaries and followers always demonstrate correct faith, exemplary compliance with the Party's policies and the State's laws; actively participate in charity activities, poverty reduction and emulation movements launched by the government; the relationship between the government and religious organizations is increasingly close and open.
Venerable Thich Khai Bao, Chief of Office of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, said: The Executive Committee was established in 2013; to date, the province has 17 monasteries, with 1,917 Buddhists. Every year, Buddhist activities are carried out as planned, Truc Lam Hung Quoc Pagoda maintains its activities, attracting a large number of monks, nuns, and Buddhists. Charity and social security work is effectively coordinated with the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations; security and order during holidays are always ensured.
Catholicism in the province has developed steadily, the number of followers is increasing, and the places of activities are being expanded and invested in. Currently, the whole province has 53 places of activities, with nearly 1,930 households and 9,365 followers; 3 parishes have been approved for establishment, including Son La parish, Moc Chau parish, and Muong La parish. Religious activities take place purely, all facilities have churches and priests in charge.
Father Nguyen Van Hiep shared: In March 2025, Son La Parish was officially established, with 1,152 parishioners from 9 parishes, the result of many years of efforts by the Hung Hoa Bishopric, priests, monks and parishioners. The approval by the Son La provincial government not only affirms the respect for religious freedom, but also symbolizes the harmony between religion and life, between religion and government.
The strict implementation of the Party's policies and the State's laws on beliefs and religions has helped stabilize religious activities in the province; the great national unity bloc has been consolidated; the relationship between the government and the church has become increasingly close. Religious dignitaries and followers have complied with the law, lived a "good life, good religion", actively participated in emulation movements, contributed to socio-economic development, and built the province to be increasingly rich, beautiful, and civilized.
