Release of seeds to regenerate aquatic resources
The Department of Fisheries and Seas of Quang Ngai province has just coordinated with local authorities to release more than 1.5 million tiger prawns, blue crabs and red snapper in the Cua Lo area (Thang Loi commune, Mo Duc district).
These are aquatic species suitable for the conditions and water environment in this area. The breeds are released evenly throughout the area to ensure good growth and development.

In addition, in 2025, the Quang Ngai Department of Fisheries and Sea Islands also plans to continue releasing fish to regenerate aquatic resources in Sa Huynh lagoon and Dak Drinh lake.
On average, each year, the Department of Fisheries - Sea and Islands coordinates with local authorities to release seeds to regenerate aquatic resources in freshwater, saltwater and brackish water bodies with a budget of 300 to 450 million VND.
"Through the above activities, we aim to raise people's awareness and responsibility, and join hands to protect and develop aquatic resources," said Vo Van Hai, Head of the Quang Ngai Department of Fisheries and Seas and Islands.
In fact, aquatic resources are gradually depleted. Overfishing, destructive fishing methods and environmental pollution have significantly reduced the quantity and quality of aquatic resources, especially in coastal areas.
Coastal localities of Quang Ngai province have had many short-term and long-term solutions to protect and restore coastal aquatic resources.

Limit destructive exploitation measures
Aquaculture has become an important economic sector, contributing to the transformation of rural agricultural structure and improving the lives of the community. Quang Ngai province is gradually changing the mindset and practices in aquaculture such as reducing environmentally unfriendly occupations, exploiting, protecting and regenerating aquatic resources for the future.
The province currently has nearly 5,200 fishing vessels. In the industry structure, trawling has 1,285 vessels, accounting for nearly 25% of the total number of fishing vessels in the province; purse seine has 630 vessels (12.13%); gillnet has 1,374 vessels (26.45%), line fishing has 1,307 vessels (25.16%), fishing has 36 vessels (0.69%), logistics has 187 vessels (3.61%) and other occupations have 375 vessels (7.22%).
Trawling is a destructive fishing profession, one of the main causes of depletion of aquatic resources. Therefore, in recent years, the province has not granted licenses to build new trawlers. Faced with the shortcomings of trawling, many fishermen have proactively switched to other fishing professions such as gillnets, hooks, etc. to both improve exploitation efficiency and contribute to protecting coastal marine resources.

This shows that, although there has been a decrease, the number of trawlers still accounts for a high proportion in the industry structure. Therefore, in the coming time, functional forces and local authorities need to increase propaganda and support for fishermen so that by 2030, the number of trawlers will be reduced to 15% according to the proposed policy.
According to the Department of Fisheries and Seas, for many years, Quang Ngai has persistently carried out job conversion among fishermen in the direction of gradually reducing fishing vessels operating near the shore and seafood exploitation occupations that greatly affect aquatic resources and ecosystems to other seafood exploitation occupations that have less impact and are more environmentally friendly.
In addition to encouraging fishermen to convert their boats and change their profession, the department also strengthens propaganda and management of fishing vessels, fishing areas, and mesh sizes to protect the space and living environment for seafood to grow.
