Quang Yen: Fishing boat sank at night, 4 crew members escaped

On the afternoon of July 22, the People's Committee of Quang Yen Ward announced that a fishing boat sank in the area due to an accident while anchoring to avoid a storm. The fishing boat has registration number QNg 92614, capacity of 610 CV, captain and owner of the boat is Mr. Tran Thanh Phap (born in 1983, Quang Ngai province).

Fishing boat numbered QNg 92614 sank at around 2am on July 22.

The ship anchored to avoid storm No. 3 near the Chanh River in Quang Yen Ward from around 12 noon on July 21, 2025 to avoid the storm. At around 2 a.m. on July 22, when the tide was low, the ship ran aground and tilted because the sailors could not handle it in time. When the tide rose again, water flooded into the hold and caused the ship to sink. At the time of the incident, there were no strong winds or big waves in the area. There were 4 crew members on board, all of whom were safe.

Authorities are waiting for low tide to salvage the ship.

Currently, Quang Yen ward is mobilizing forces and means to salvage the ship when the tide goes down tonight. Authorities continue to investigate and clarify the specific cause of the incident.
