Cockroach coffee attracts young people
The specialty coffee is sold at a cafe inside a museum, but the name of the museum has not been revealed. A staff member said the product line was launched in late June and has recently become a trending topic on social media.
“As an insect-themed museum, we wanted our drinks to be in that spirit,” he said.

In addition to cockroach coffee, the museum also offers a drink made from the digestive juices of pitcher plants and a limited edition drink mixed with ants (only available on Halloween).
According to this employee, all ingredients are purchased from traditional Chinese medicine stores, ensuring safety for users. In traditional Chinese medicine, cockroach powder is said to help promote blood circulation, while golden worms are rich in protein, helping to strengthen the immune system.
This person said that ant coffee has a sour taste, while the drink made from pitcher plant sap tastes like regular coffee. He also revealed that the shop sells more than 10 cups of cockroach coffee every day.
“Cockroach cafes mainly attract the curiosity of young people. Parents often avoid them because they are afraid of cockroaches,” he said.
Many people have come to the museum to try this “crushed insect” coffee, including celebrities on social media. One customer closed his eyes and took a sip and commented: “Not as disgusting as I thought.”
However, many people are hesitant, saying that even if they were paid, they would not dare try these types of coffee.
"Unique" coffee trends: From insects to pig intestines
A few months ago, a coffee shop in Jiangdu city, Sichuan province (China) also suddenly became famous thanks to its coffee mixed with cooked pig intestines.
This unique coffee is made from coffee and milk, combined with boiled pig intestines and small intestines. The price of this drink is 32 yuan (about 116,000 VND) for a cup. The drink has three levels of flavor: light, medium and strong. The higher the level, the stronger the smell of pig intestines.
Talking about the reason for creating this new drink, Mr. Zhang Yuchi - the owner - shared: "Braised pork intestines are a favorite dish in Giang Du. I thought of combining pork intestines with coffee to promote the shop as well as the city's specialty."
The shop owner said he bought cooked pig intestines from a famous restaurant in the city, then mixed the intestine water into the coffee.

"We put exactly 6g of intestine water into each cup of coffee. That is a number carefully calculated after many tests. The goal is to let customers feel the special flavor of pig intestines, but not lose the taste of coffee. We hope most customers will find it acceptable," he said.
According to him, this dish has a sweet and salty taste, like "salty cheese".
Many diners feel that mixing new ingredients into drinks is normal, but some people object to the combination in this drink: "It's ridiculous. I like coffee and I also eat pig intestines, but not combining the two."
Unusual coffee trends are not uncommon in China. Earlier this year, a cafe in Yunnan province caused a stir by mixing deep-fried worms into its coffee. In Jiangxi, another shop created a drink mixed with fried chili and hot pepper powder.
