Currently, Vietnam ranks third in the world in rice exports. Vietnam's main rice export markets are the Philippines, Indonesia, China, Ghana, Malaysia, Singapore, etc. Of which, the Philippines accounts for more than 38% of Vietnam's total rice exports. Although Vietnam's rice export value in the first quarter increased, the current export price of 5% broken rice from Vietnam is below 580 USD/ton - the lowest level since the beginning of the year. Meanwhile, some of Vietnam's main rice export markets are also tending to reduce imports or diversify supply sources, affecting Vietnam's rice export situation. Faced with this reality, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development recommends that businesses continue to diversify markets, focusing on improving quality to increase the value of Vietnamese rice. In 2024, Vietnam expects rice exports to reach 5 billion USD.
