According to the General Statistics Office, in October, the country had more than 15,400 newly established enterprises with a registered capital of VND 125.8 trillion and a registered number of nearly 131,600 employees, an increase of 21.7% in the number of enterprises, an increase of 7.4% in registered capital and an increase of 64.3% in the number of employees compared to September 2023 and an increase compared to the same period last year.
However, the average capital of a newly established enterprise decreased. In October, the average capital of a new enterprise only reached 8.2 billion VND, down 11.7% compared to the previous month and down 0.6% compared to the same period last year.
In the first 10 months of 2023, the whole country had 131.8 thousand newly registered enterprises with a total registered capital of nearly 1,212.6 trillion VND and a total registered number of 880 thousand employees, an increase of 4.7% in the number of enterprises, a decrease of 12.1% in registered capital and an increase of 5.4% in the number of employees compared to the same period last year.
The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the first 10 months of 2023 also reached 9.2 billion VND, down 16.1% over the same period in 2022.
In addition, the total registered capital added to the economy in the first 10 months of 2023 was VND 2,861.4 trillion, down 31.4% over the same period last year, of which the registered capital increased by enterprises increasing capital was VND 1,648.7 trillion, down 41%.

On average, nearly 18.4 thousand enterprises were newly established and returned to operation per month.
In October, the number of businesses temporarily suspending operations also increased compared to the previous month and the same period last year.
In the first 10 months of 2023, the number of enterprises temporarily suspending business was 81,000, up 22.1% over the same period last year; 50,700 enterprises suspended operations pending dissolution procedures, up 25.9%; 14,700 enterprises completed dissolution procedures, down 4.5%. On average, 14,700 enterprises withdrew from the market per month.
