On the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the birth (1948-2024) and the 36th anniversary of the death (1988-2024) of the late author Luu Quang Vu, following the success of the art program "Thoi doi - Luu Quang Vu: Prism, stage and life" in 2023, the Vietnam Drama Theater officially launched to the capital audience the art program "Luu Quang Vu - Thoi doi 2: Nguoi trong doi nho," taking place in August 2024.
A representative of the Vietnam Drama Theater said that the program not only aims to pay tribute to the late author Luu Quang Vu's contributions to the country's theater, but also brings an artistic space imbued with Luu Quang Vu's style with the participation of two famous plays: "The Sick" and "The One in the Memory."
“The One in the Memory” is a dramatic work in the style of Luu Quang Vu, giving the audience a unique artistic experience with a variety of different dimensions.
The play conveys profound philosophies, imbued with humanity and faith in life - where even the smallest people have a huge influence on life.
The play, directed by Meritorious Artist Trinh Mai Nguyen, was awarded the Gold Medal at the 5th International Experimental Theatre Festival in 2022.
2024 marks the 10-year journey of the Vietnam Drama Theater launching the play "The Doctor" (2014-2024) - a comedy masterpiece of the Northern stage and also one of his last works.
From the first time it was staged, "The Doctor" became a theatrical phenomenon when the play touched on the tragicomedy of Vietnamese society during the subsidy period.
With its timeless appeal - from domestic to international, from past to present, "The Doctor" after nearly 4 decades still retains its hot topicality and profound philosophies about human ethics.
The story begins when Chairman Toan Nha decided to "change the name" of Ca Ha commune to Hung Tam under the advice of "military advisor" Van Suu.
With the determination of "Striving to wake up every morning, Vietnamese people dream of being a citizen of Hung Tam commune," the disease of false pride gradually crept into each member as everyone wanted to become truly "cool", thereby causing many humorous, half-laughing, half-crying situations.
A representative of the Vietnam Drama Theater said that the play “The One in the Memory” will be performed for the audience at 8 p.m. on August 10 and 18 at the Vietnam Drama Theater and at 8 p.m. on August 30 at the Dai Nam Theater.
The 399th special performance of “The Doctor” will take place at the Hanoi Opera House at 8:00 p.m. on August 29./.
