Argentina's El Tiempo website recently published an article by journalist and scholar Gaston Fiorda, who has many years of research on Vietnam, praising Vietnam's economic development model and effective diplomatic strategy.
According to a VNA correspondent in Buenos Aires, in the article, journalist Gaston Fiorda affirmed that Vietnam is currently one of the strongest economies in Southeast Asia, thanks to the development of a socialist-oriented market economic model, implemented since 1986, with the Doi Moi policy.
Vietnam has promoted the development of a multi-sector economy with the participation of the private sector and foreign enterprises.
However, the state still maintains strategic control in important sectors such as energy and mining to ensure economic sovereignty , in addition to attracting investment and developing the technology sector.
El Tiempo newspaper emphasized that in 2024, Vietnam's economy will achieve a growth rate of 7.09%, with export turnover increasing by 14.3% in exports (reaching 405.53 billion USD) and attracting over 38 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI), ranking among the top 15 destinations in the world.
In the first quarter of 2025 alone, Vietnam received more than $11 billion in FDI, a sign that investors believe in Vietnam's economic development model.
In the article, scholar Gaston Fiorda, a reporter for Argentina's National Radio, also emphasized that China, the United States and the European Union are Vietnam's number one trading partners.
Trade turnover between Vietnam and China exceeded 205 billion USD last year, while with the US it reached nearly 150 billion USD.
According to journalist Gaston Fiorda, in addition to economic achievements, Vietnam has also deeply integrated with the international community. Vietnam proactively and actively participates in regional integration forums such as ASEAN and affiliated organizations such as AFTA, ARF, AIA, as well as global forums including APEC and the World Trade Organization (WTO), strengthening its economic and geopolitical position.
In a world undergoing restructuring, Vietnam is emerging as a unique example of stability, growth and pragmatic diplomacy, the article concludes.
With effective management of a State and an open economy, Vietnam will continue to assert itself as a reliable and dynamic factor in the Southeast Asian bloc in the future./.
