SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk said the company is preparing to launch the ninth test flight of its Starship rocket as early as next week.
SpaceX announced on May 13 that Starship has completed an extended static launch test with six engines and is in final preparations ahead of its upcoming flight.
"Just before next week's Starship flight, I will be giving a speech explaining my plans for Mars at Starbase, Texas, which will be live-streamed on X," Musk wrote on social media platform X.
Starship's most recent launch was on March 6 during its eighth test flight, when SpaceX lost contact with the spacecraft shortly after takeoff.
SpaceX's Starship spacecraft and Super Heavy rocket, collectively known as Starship, are fully reusable transportation systems designed to carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars and beyond.
Starship plays an important role for NASA. This is the vehicle that NASA has chosen to carry astronauts on the final leg of their journey to the Moon in the Artemis III mission, currently scheduled to take place in 2026./.
