Launch of the first national foreign television channel in English

This was the affirmation of Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television (VTV) Do Duc Hoang at the press conference on August 22 in Hanoi about the launch of the foreign language television channel Vietnam Today.

According to Mr. Do Duc Hoang, Vietnam Today was born after many years of incubation and implementation by VTV. This is the first national foreign television channel broadcasting 24/7 mainly in English, integrating multilingual subtitles, present on modern media platforms, with the goal of global coverage.

Mr. Hoang said that on September 7, 1970, the first television program of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, was broadcast to convey information to the people of the country. After 55 years, Vietnam Television has grown stronger and stronger, becoming a key multimedia press agency and continuing to carry out the mission of conveying Vietnam's information to a global audience through a national foreign television channel called Vietnam Today.

Vietnam Today channel is built on three core principles: Official information, sharp content and creative communication. The channel provides multi-dimensional information about the country in many fields. Vietnam Today channel's television programs and digital content products are invested in quality in both content and form of expression, suitable for the tastes of international audiences.

“Vietnam Today plays a role as a connecting platform to promote the national brand and image to the world . Through that, Vietnam Today contributes to expanding international cooperation, creating a bridge between Vietnam and the global community, and affirming the country's position and prestige in the international arena,” said Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television Do Duc Hoang.

At the press conference, the Organizing Committee informed that Vietnam Today is aimed at audiences around the world. This TV channel will bring to the global audience an objective and vivid picture of Vietnam today: from news, politics , economics, culture, tourism, environment to innovation and digital transformation. The channel also introduces the country's unique values, traditional identity and modern appearance, reflecting Vietnam's journey of development and deep integration with the world.

Launching the first national foreign television channel - Vietnam Today -2 — Vietnam's country, culture and people will be introduced to international friends through Vietnam Today.

With the motto "Official information - Sharp, attractive content - Creative media", Vietnam Today brings the story of a Vietnam that overcomes old prejudices - a peaceful, stable country, both preserving tradition and integrating into modernity, full of youth and dynamism, a culture rich in identity, beautiful and full of potential. The domestic broadcasting platform for Vietnam Today channel in 2025 includes: VTV's nationwide digital terrestrial television system; VTVCab, SCTV cable television system; DTH satellite digital television system; OTT applications of Vietnam Today, VTVgo, FPT, VieOn, AVG, Clip TV. Broadcasting platforms abroad include: VTVgo's OTT application and Vietnam Today application; Toober's OTT application in America and Europe...; Digital terrestrial television broadcasting system in Laos; Unitel's OTT platform in Laos, Metfone in Cambodia and Mytel in Myanmar.
