Launching the General Secretary's book on diplomacy

The book Building and developing a comprehensive and modern Vietnamese foreign affairs and diplomacy , imbued with the identity of "Vietnamese bamboo" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was launched in Hanoi on the afternoon of November 21.

The book launch ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, the Central Propaganda Commission and the National Political Publishing House Truth.

The 800-page book is a selection of articles, speeches, interviews, letters, telegrams... of the General Secretary on foreign affairs and diplomacy.

The book consists of three parts, the first part is The important role and great contribution of foreign affairs in the cause of national construction and defense , including an overview article and 7 speeches by the General Secretary at national Central, diplomatic and foreign affairs conferences.

Part two is Vietnam's foreign relations for independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development , including 78 speeches, writings, statements, interviews, letters, telegrams... of the General Secretary at bilateral and multilateral diplomatic activities and forums.

Part three is Imprints of foreign affairs and diplomacy , including 52 opinions of experts, politicians, diplomats, researchers, and international friends on the role and contributions of the General Secretary in forming and developing a comprehensive, modern Vietnamese diplomatic school, imbued with the identity of "Vietnamese bamboo".

Speaking at the book launch ceremony, Ms. Truong Thi Mai, Standing Member of the Secretariat and Head of the Central Organization Committee, said that the book is "a compass, guidelines and policies of the Party, an important theoretical and practical basis for foreign affairs work in the new situation".

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said the book highlights the identity and core values throughout the Party's thinking and foreign policy, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. That is, a consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations, for the benefit of the nation and people.

According to the representative of the National Political Publishing House Truth, the book was completed in 8 months.

At the National Foreign Affairs Conference held in December 2021, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong compared Vietnam's diplomacy to "bamboo". Last month, meeting with voters in Hanoi before the 6th session of the 15th National Assembly, he said that the "Vietnamese bamboo" diplomacy is flexible but very firm, supple but resilient.

In 2023, many other books by the General Secretary were launched with topics such as fighting, preventing, and combating corruption and negativity; military guidelines, and defense strategies. The latest is the book "The whole country is united, seizing every opportunity, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, determined to successfully implement the resolution of the 13th Party Congress", launched on October 20.
