The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is a collaboration between Toyota and two domestic joint venture partners, FAW (with the RAV4 model) and GAC (with the Wildlander model), produced and customized specifically for Chinese consumers. In terms of design, the GAC - Toyota Wildlander has a modern, neat style with a honeycomb grille and "hammer head" headlights. Meanwhile, the FAW RAV4 has a more aggressive design, inspired by the Woodland and Adventure versions, although the roof rack has been removed. Neither model has a sporty GR Sport version.
Both the Toyota Wildlander and RAV4 use the TNGA-K chassis and have similar dimensions, with lengths of 4,600 mm and 4,620 mm respectively. Notable features include a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated semi-aniline leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, 64-color ambient lighting, facial recognition, voice control, and a 749-liter luggage compartment. The most noticeable difference comes from the interior and technology. Both versions have a central screen measuring up to 15.6 inches, superior to the 10.5 or 12.9 inch screens of the international RAV4 version.
Next to that is an 8.8-inch digital dashboard and an optional 26.4-inch HUD head-up display – equipment that is not currently available on US, Japanese or European versions. Notably, in the Chinese market, the 2026 Toyota RAV4 SUV model is still offered with a 2.0L gasoline engine, producing 169 horsepower. There are also two self-charging hybrid versions: a 2.0L with 193 horsepower and a 2.5L E-Four with 236 horsepower. Toyota does not currently offer a plug-in hybrid version in this market.
The price is also a highlight when Wildlander is listed from 169,800 to 230,800 Yuan, equivalent to about 23,900 - 32,500 USD, depending on the version. Meanwhile, in the US, the RAV4 hybrid starts at $31,900, while in Australia, prices start at 45,990 AUD (about $30,000). The upgraded RAV4 version has not yet appeared in showrooms in Japan and Europe.
