Ramos wants to take over Sevilla. |
According to Spanish media, Ramos has unexpectedly become a strong candidate to take over his former club Sevilla. Initially, sources suggested that the veteran defender was only exploring the possibility of becoming a shareholder in his hometown team.
However, according to Cadena Cope , Ramos is actually leading a private group of investors with ambitions to take over Sevilla. Notably, the offer made by Ramos's group is currently considered the highest among the parties involved in negotiations.
This group's advantage lies in the name of Ramos, who rose through the ranks of Sevilla's youth academy before becoming a legend at Real Madrid. Despite having a strained relationship with many Sevilla fans after leaving, the former Real Madrid star has somewhat mended his image since returning to the club in the 2023/24 season.

Ramos wants to invest in his former club. |
Currently, Ramos's opponent is an investment group from the United States. This group, represented by Antonio Lappi and Fede Quintero, was once considered the strongest candidate to take over Sevilla. They even discussed bringing Monchi, Sevilla's former Sporting Director, back to oversee the professional aspects of the game.
However, things changed after the group of American investors completed their financial due diligence. According to AS , the offer price for Sevilla shares was drastically adjusted, from around 3,400 euros per share down to just 2,700 euros. This drop is believed to reflect the financial risks and internal structure of the club, and has caused negotiations to stall and threaten to collapse.
At 39, Ramos is a free agent after leaving Monterrey in December. He hasn't retired yet and hopes to continue playing in Europe.
