Real terminates contract with 'Brazilian disaster'

After five years of waiting and several unsuccessful loan spells, Reinier Jesus is on the brink of having his contract terminated early by Real Madrid.

According to AS , Reinier is not in coach Xabi Alonso's plans and is not even considered for the reserve team. The years of wandering in Germany, Italy and Spain did not help him mature as expected.

Experts say Reinier lacks tactical adaptability and is not brave enough to develop in the top European football environment.

With no club interested in Reinier, Real Madrid are seriously considering a loss-cutting option, which is to terminate the Brazilian's contract early to reduce the wage bill and make way for other talents. Reinier's contract currently runs until the summer of 2026.

Reinier, who joined Real in January 2020 from Flamengo for nearly 30 million euros, was just 18 years old and was expected to follow in the footsteps of compatriots like Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo, two attacking stars who had made a big splash at the Bernabeu. However, things took a completely different turn.

To date, at 23, Reinier has yet to play a single minute for Real Madrid's first team. Instead, he has endured a series of disappointing loan spells: two lacklustre seasons at Borussia Dortmund, a lacklustre spell at Girona, inconsistent performances at Frosinone and most recently at Granada, where he has been a regular starter but has had performances that are, in a word, "bland".
