Robert De Niro reveals he just had 'another child' at age 79

In a chat with ET Canada , Hollywood star — Oscar-winning Robert De Niro (79) — revealed that he has welcomed his seventh child while discussing parenting and his most recent film, About My Father .

"I mean, there's no other way with kids. I don't want to have to set rules and stuff like that. But sometimes you don't have a choice. And any parent, I think, would say the same. You always want to do the right thing for your kids and give them the benefit of the doubt, but sometimes you can't," the actor confided.

When the interviewer asked Robert De Niro about his six children, he corrected, "Actually, seven."

"I just had another baby," he shared, although he did not provide any further details about the newest member of his family or the partner with whom he welcomed baby No. 7.

The actor has six children from previous relationships. De Niro and his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, are parents to daughter Drena, 51, and son Raphael, 46.

In 1995, he welcomed twin sons Julian and Aaron with his ex-girlfriend, model and actress Toukie Smith. Robert De Niro also shares son Elliot (24) and daughter Helen Grace (11) with his ex-wife Grace Hightower.

Now a grandfather, De Niro has said that the best thing a parent or grandparent can do is push their children to achieve their dreams.

"For my kids, I always tell them, 'If you want to be an actor or you want to do this or that, that's fine as long as you're happy. Just don't sell yourself short.' It's important that they find their own path," De Niro told People in January 2020.

Robert De Niro just welcomed his 7th child, sparking romance rumors with Tiffany Chen for the first time in August 2021.

The couple met years ago while filming a movie together in 2015. Chen, a martial arts instructor, had a role in the De Niro-starring film The Intern .

As a renowned martial arts expert, Chen has received media attention for her achievements. In a 2011 interview with Inside Kung-Fu magazine, she spoke about her friends.

Despite European vacations and dinner dates together, neither Robert De Niro nor Chen have spoken publicly about the status of their relationship.
