Charlotte is a six-legged 3D-printed robot developed by Crest Robotics and Earth Building Technologies, capable of printing an entire 200 square meter house in just 24 hours.

The system is fully automated, using a mixture of soil, sand and rubble on site to create solid walls without the need for concrete or steel.

Charlotte's “bagging” technology reduces costs, carbon emissions and provides a sustainable solution to the global housing crisis.

With a flexible six-legged design like a spider, Charlotte can move on rough terrain and adapt well to harsh environments such as deserts or the surface of the Moon.

Engineers say the robot could use the regolith on the Moon to print shelters and infrastructure for astronauts without transporting materials from Earth.

Charlotte is seen as a new competitor in the race with American companies such as ICON and AI SpaceFactory - names that are cooperating with NASA to develop construction technology outside Earth.

If successful, Charlotte could become a symbol of an era of automated construction, where robots and AI work together to lay the foundations for future cities.

Experts say this step marks the intersection of 3D printing technology and robotics.
