Ronaldinho when he played for Queretaro, a Mexican football team. |
Only 6 months, but Ronaldinho's time wearing Querétaro FC (Liga MX) shirt became one of the most unique chapters in the history of world football. Not because of the championship, not because of the beautiful goal (although there was one), but because a Brazilian legend turned the Querétaro desert into a miniature Rio de Janeiro.
After winning everything in his career, Ronaldinho decided to sign with Mexican side Queretaro in 2014, three years after returning from Europe.
Despite not being at his best, Ronaldinho still delighted the club's fans with his excellent performances that season. The Brazilian legend scored 8 goals in 29 games in all competitions.
But that was on the football field, in real life, "Rô vẩu" shocked the Mexican team's leadership with his lavish lifestyle.
Ronaldinho asked the club to give him a private house like a 5-star hotel, with lots of rooms. The reason? Because it was always packed with friends and relatives from Brazil.
He cannot miss his homeland’s food, so “Rô vẩu” brought his personal chef from Brazil to cook every day. Feijoada, picanha, churrasco… all must be authentic Samba. In addition, he also wants to play beach soccer in the harsh desert of Mexico.
To solve the problem, Joaquín Beltrán, former Querétaro sporting director, had 3 trucks of sand filled Ronaldinho's home stadium. When Ronaldinho wanted to go to the plaza to buy a shirt, but was afraid that fans would recognize him, he asked the shopping center to open 1 hour early, just for this player.
Despite all the pampering, Ronaldinho still felt bored in the dry land of Mexico. In February 2015, Ronaldinho left Querétaro to play beach soccer in Brazil without a formal goodbye.
