In the early days of 2026, the Party branch meeting of Quang Long 8 village, attended by the Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Duong Hoa commune, became more lively than usual. The conversation went beyond year-end summaries, focusing instead on tea variety conversion, machinery investment, and fertilizer preparation for the new production season. The atmosphere of production heated up from the very first days and months.
Mr. Tran Sy Dung, a Party member of the Quang Long 8 Party branch and owner of the Dung Nga tea processing facility, shared: "Previously, after making tea, people mainly focused on tidying up and cleaning up to prepare for Tet (Lunar New Year). But this year, with Tet approaching, everywhere I go, people are discussing changing tea varieties, altering cultivation processes, and using organic fertilizers; how to produce tastier, higher-quality tea buds that can be sold at a better price."

The enthusiasm for labor, production, and innovation in the Duong Hoa tea growing region has been further boosted after the commune completed the project "Development, enhancement of value and competitiveness of the Duong Hoa tea growing region in the period 2026-2030, with orientation to 2040". Based on a comprehensive scientific and practical assessment of the potential and advantages of the Duong Hoa tea growing region within the new local context, the project frankly points out existing shortcomings and limitations hindering the breakthrough of the tea industry, such as: fragmented and small-scale production; outdated tea varieties, uneven productivity and quality; insufficient processing, and low added value. Based on practical assessment, the project aims to reposition the Duong Hoa tea growing region towards concentrated, high-quality commodity production, linked with standardization, deep processing, and market expansion.

The project aims to develop the Duong Hoa tea growing area in a modern and sustainable direction by 2030, exploiting its coastal advantages. Accordingly, the tea growing area will be expanded through planting approximately 11 hectares of new tea; simultaneously, nearly 39 hectares of existing raw material areas will be renovated and rejuvenated by replacing old tea varieties with high-quality ones. By 2030, the proportion of high-quality varieties will reach over 80%; over 60% of the production area will adhere to VietGAP standards, and 10-15% will follow organic farming practices. The project also focuses on digital transformation, establishing planting area codes and QR code traceability for the entire concentrated tea growing area, increasing the rate of deep processing to 20-30%, thereby contributing to a 30-50% increase in local income.
The People's Council of Duong Hoa commune has issued a resolution approving the Project; accordingly, over 12 billion VND will be allocated from the state budget (commune budget and provincial budget support) and more than 11 billion VND will be mobilized as matching resources from people, businesses, and production facilities. The capital will be implemented through 5 sub-projects, including: Establishing geographical indications and a traceability system for Duong Hoa tea products; planting new and replacing high-quality tea varieties; building intensive tea cultivation and processing models according to VietGAP standards linked to a supply chain from production to consumption; applying digital technology in managing organic tea production associated with the development of ecotourism in the period 2028-2030; and organizing the annual Duong Hoa Tea Festival.
As of November 2025, the Duong Hoa tea growing area covers over 117 hectares, mainly concentrated in Quang Long 7, Quang Long 8, and Quang Long 9 villages. The main tea varieties are midland and Ngoc Thuy; the average yield reaches 13-14 tons/ha. The entire commune currently has 33 tea processing facilities. The commune has developed several OCOP products achieving 3-4 stars, including those from Viet Tu Investment Construction and Trading Co., Ltd., Dung Nga Tea Production Facility, and Thang Hoa Tea.
