Reorganizing 140 public universities

QNgTV- The Ministry of Education and Training is developing a project to rearrange and reorganize the system of 140 public universities nationwide, expected to be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval and implementation from 2026.

This is considered an important step to improve management efficiency and training quality, while overcoming fragmentation and overlap in the public university system.

The project is built on the basis of resolutions of the Party, Government and education and training development strategy, ensuring transparency and objectivity, with clear criteria, aiming at a streamlined, modern and sustainably developed university education system.

The Ministry of Education and Training will focus on directly managing national key schools, while other schools will be assigned to appropriate ministries, branches and localities. The Ministry also widely consulted with ministries, branches, localities and universities, creating a high consensus before submitting for approval. The implementation of the project will not only help improve management and investment efficiency, but also aim to train high-quality human resources to meet the socio-economic development requirements of the country in this period.
