The banks of the Dak Snghe River have been continuously eroding in recent days , sweeping away many areas of crops such as coffee, cassava and fruit trees. In particular, after storm No. 13, both banks were deeply eroded, many sections were close to residential areas, posing a potential risk to the safety of people living along the riverbanks.

Mr. Bui Van Duyen, a resident of Kon Skôi village, Kon Braih commune, shared: “Just hearing news of a storm makes the whole village lose sleep. The road along the riverbank has no embankment, just a heavy rain can wash away the road at any time. Like recently, the militia and police had to stay up all night to monitor the water level, in case of a bad situation, they can warn the people in time.”
Not only Mr. Duyen, Mr. A Nhuong in the same village also cannot hide his worries every time the flood water rises. Mr. A Nhuong said, the people here really hope the government will soon build a dike. Every time it rains heavily, the water rises to the edge of the house, not knowing when the ground will collapse or the house will be swept away by the flood water.
“ The landslide not only threatens houses but also severely damages the main road of village 10, the only road serving more than 1,000 hectares of production land in Kon Skôi and neighboring villages. If it continues to be cut off, the transportation of agricultural products by the people will face many difficulties and may be completely stopped ,” said Mr. N Nhuong.
Mr. Le Quang Chinh, Chairman of Kon Braih Commune People's Committee, said: During the recent storm, the water level of Dak Snghe River rose abnormally, causing severe landslides in the area leading to Kon Skoi village, directly threatening the property and livelihoods of more than 120 households.
“The commune has planned to relocate about 35 severely affected households. However, in the long term, we hope that the Provincial People's Committee will pay attention to allocating funds to build an anti-erosion embankment to protect people's safety . Investing in an anti-erosion embankment system on the Dak Snghe river bank is considered an urgent solution to protect people's lives and property, while stabilizing production and ensuring sustainable development for the entire region,” said Mr. Chinh.
