“Marrying a Wife for Father” is produced by Lalaland Entertainment and distributed by Galaxy Studio, marking the charming and unique return of director Nguyen Ngoc Lam. The film features Meritorious Artist Huu Chau, People's Artist Hong Van, artist Phi Phung, Truong Minh Thao, Thuy Diem, Dinh Khang, Syni Trang, Kim Hai, Leona Khanh Tien, Trong Phuong, Thien An Victoria, Thuy Lieu...

“Getting a Wife for Father” is a film project full of emotions and laughter, taking the audience to a peaceful small village in the West, where Mr. Sau Seu (played by Meritorious Artist Huu Chau) - the owner of a coffee shop and karaoke bar lives alone, waiting every day for his son Ut Tung (played by Truong Minh Thao) to come home after a period of working in Saigon.

The film carries a message about understanding between generations in the family.

When he discovered he was seriously ill, he decided to “marry his son off” to fulfill his promise to his late wife. But that plan fell apart when he discovered that Ut Tung had a shocking secret. Amidst the father-son conflicts, misunderstandings and attempts to reconcile, they gradually learned to understand and sympathize so that the son could find his own happiness and the father could be completely satisfied with the present.

Not only a family comedy, “Marrying a Wife for Father” also exploits the emotional gap between generations in a traditional Vietnamese family, when what children want cannot approach the expectations of their parents. Although it belongs to the comedy genre, the laughter in “Marrying a Wife for Father” is created from the awkward, contradictory, and sometimes very ordinary situations between father and son, between the peaceful riverside villages of the West, between people who think they understand each other but are actually long separated.

Besides the intense and tense details, the film also brings about peaceful, intimate and poetic scenes of the river delta region of the West. The film brings the typical colors and spirit of the West, with a slow afternoon boat trip on the river, with the greetings of the villagers, and with the vibrant live music of a bustling wedding.

Through a subtle, authentic and emotional storytelling, director Nguyen Ngoc Lam told a story about the everyday people of the West - people who live simply, are hard-working, and always carry the burden of family without knowing who to share it with. From there, "Marrying a Wife for Father" painted a picture of family love and healing, simple but profound, easy to sympathize with, especially for young people who are struggling to find a place to belong.

Talking about the film, Production Director Xuan Lan shared: “Marrying a Wife for Father” is a familiar story, adapted from a long-standing stage work. The film brings simple everyday situations, in crying there is laughter, in laughing there is crying, all are very honest images and emotions. Our direction is to bring cute, closer, more pleasant stories and bring comfortable emotions to the audience.”

Director Nguyen Ngoc Lam also said: “I am a son of the West, and the West has raised me. I am lucky that my wife - Xuan Lan suggested making a film about the West. The time returning to the West to live and make the film gave me a lot of emotions. I am grateful that we found a suitable script and a wonderful cast to make this story, to complete this journey”.

Meritorious Artist Huu Chau recalled the process of playing the role of Mr. Sau Seu on the big screen: "Being accepted for this role is a blessing for me, because the role of Mr. Sau Seu has been with me for nearly 20 years from the stage and now on the big screen. Thank you, director Nguyen Ngoc Lam, for helping me keep this role." The artist also shared that the scene that he remembers most is the scene where Ut Tung is beaten by his father, filmed from morning to afternoon. Actor Truong Minh Thao was praised by his "father" for acting very emotionally and truthfully, making him feel sorry for her like his own child.

People's Artist Hong Van gave many compliments to the director: "Director Nguyen Ngoc Lam is a very professional and thoughtful person. Although my role was small, it was pre-produced and prepared very carefully, so when I went to the scene, I only had to follow the director's request. Lam worked very smoothly with the cast, and is also a director who loves his work like his own child. He is always on the monitor, and there are many scenes where the director is emotional and cries with the actors. If I film 10 times, all 10 times Lam lives the same emotions as the actors in that scene."

Actress Thuy Diem as Kieu Trang.

Sharing about the role of Kieu Trang, actress Thuy Diem said: “Through this role, I hope to convey the message that not everyone is lucky enough to find happiness the first time they choose, but don’t give up on your faith in the future. As long as you live well and love with all your heart, good things are definitely waiting for you ahead.”

“Getting a Wife for Father” is a family film project that is carefully invested in terms of script, setting and emotions, with beautiful footage imbued with the soul of the countryside, bringing stories that never get old, issues that have always been painful through many generations about family affection, personal responsibility, both “filial piety” and “love”.

The movie “Marrying a Wife for Father” will premiere early at 6:00 p.m. on November 20 and officially premiere nationwide on November 21.
