The patients treated this time are mainly from Tan Khai, Minh Duc, Tan Hung communes... which are areas with a large population of ethnic minorities.
Because most people in the area live on farming, economic conditions are still difficult, many sick people do not have money to go to the doctor or get treatment.

In order to contribute to supporting health care for people, especially ethnic minorities, doctors at Binh Phuoc General Hospital have organized screening examinations for 300 patients, of which 100 patients are eligible for free surgery.
Doctors performed free eye surgeries on patients from the afternoon of November 21 to the morning of November 23 at Binh Long Regional Medical Center (Dong Nai Province). Specialist II Doctor Le Van Giang, Head of the Ophthalmology Department, Binh Phuoc General Hospital, said that according to the plan, this time free eye surgeries will be performed on 100 patients.
However, before the surgery, some patients had high blood pressure so they had to stop. Therefore, only 64 patients could be operated on, including one patient who had surgery on both eyes. The remaining 36 patients will be treated for blood pressure and transferred to Binh Phuoc General Hospital for surgery later.

Mr. Dieu Uc, 61 years old, an ethnic Xtieng in Tan Hung commune (Dong Nai province) has had eye pain for many years. Due to difficult circumstances, he tried to endure and did not go to the doctor.
Mr. Dieu Uc said: “Poor eyesight is very inconvenient in work and daily life, not seeing very clearly, moving around, especially at night, is much more difficult. On this occasion, I was examined very carefully by the doctors and was advised to have eye surgery. If I did not have surgery this time, I would have had to endure prolonged blindness. I really appreciate the kindness and dedication of the medical team.”

The Department of Ophthalmology, Binh Phuoc General Hospital has accompanied the Asian Blindness Prevention Organization to carry out free surgery for poor patients in the province from 2008-2025, each surgery for 100 patients, in which in 2009 and 2010 there were 2 surgeries each year with a total cost of 6.8 billion VND.
This is a good and meaningful program, because it is fully funded, it is a lifesaver for the poor, especially ethnic minorities with eye diseases who do not have money for treatment.
