On November 23, the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Hanoi coordinated with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to organize the festival 'Donate blood to save people - Practice Bodhisattva's path' in 2025.

The program aims to bring compassionate blood to patients, demonstrate love for humanity, join hands to nurture life, build a compassionate, harmonious and humane society.
At the same time, it also aims to spread the boundless compassion of Buddhism in practicing the vow to save the suffering and bring joy on the Bodhisattva path; promote the humanistic values of religion in community life, contribute to fostering the spirit of solidarity and sharing, and promote the tradition of "loving others as you love yourself" of the Vietnamese people.

Most Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet; Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan; Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Pham Tat Thang visited and encouraged lecturers, monks, nuns, and Buddhists to participate in blood donation.
Speaking at the program, Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet shared that this is the second time the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Hanoi has organized the activity 'Donating blood to save people - Practicing Bodhisattva's path', continuing to affirm the role of Vietnamese Buddhism in the world, that is, Buddhism does not stand aside from human suffering.
"This activity also educates monks and nuns, puts the Bodhisattva spirit into concrete actions, trains compassion and the mind to save the suffering through practical actions, contributing to solving the current blood shortage. Especially when the people of the Central and Central Highlands are facing storms and floods, spreading the spirit of humanity in the community, bringing the spirit of compassion and saving the suffering into social life has extremely profound meaning" - Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet said.

Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet emphasized: "Donating blood is sowing seeds of compassion and wisdom for life, is practicing Bodhisattva path in everyday life, is serving humanity according to the spirit of selflessness and altruism of Vietnamese Buddhism."
In her speech at the program, Party Central Committee member, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, Head of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, emphasized that the humanitarian journey of the voluntary blood donation movement in recent times has had an important role of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
The Church has done a good job of propagating and mobilizing monks, nuns and Buddhists to participate in voluntary blood donation.
The Minister cited that at the headquarters of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha or at many pagodas and places of worship of the Sangha, voluntary blood donation programs are regularly organized.
Particularly at the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Hanoi, under the attention and direction of the Venerable, the Abbot Thich Thanh Quyet, many blood donation programs have been organized, with thousands of monks, nuns, and Buddhists participating in this meaningful activity.
According to Minister Dao Hong Lan, the program 'Donate blood to save people - Practice Bodhisattva's path' is not only a voluntary activity, but also a natural and humane continuation of the tradition of "Helping each other", of the spirit of "saving the suffering and the needy" that has permeated the Vietnamese mind and the compassionate teachings of Buddhism.

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan called on the entire community to continue to pay attention, support and create favorable conditions for all eligible people to participate in voluntary blood donation.
"Each unit of blood donated today is the realization of love, sharing and Bodhisattva vows in modern life. It is not only a gift of life sent to patients but also a seed of goodness sown in the community, helping to spread the spirit of responsibility, compassion and kindness in society" - Minister Dao Hong Lan said.
At the same time, the Minister expressed his belief that with the joint efforts of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, monks, nuns, Buddhists and people from all walks of life, the voluntary blood donation movement will continue to develop strongly, becoming a solid support for the health sector in treatment and emergency work; at the same time, contributing to building a society rich in humanity, humanity and sustainability.
To continue to ensure the blood supply for emergency and patient treatment and to develop the voluntary blood donation movement with increasingly high quality, efficiency and sustainability, Minister Dao Hong Lan expressed her hope that in the coming time, the leaders, delegates and the entire community will continue to pay attention, support and create favorable conditions for all eligible people to participate in voluntary blood donation. Each of us, even if we are not doctors or medical staff, can contribute to saving the lives of patients through our noble act of blood donation.

On this occasion, Most Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet also called on the Venerables, distinguished guests, monks, nuns, and Buddhists to attend the program to support the people of the Central and Central Highlands regions affected by storms and floods.
The festival is a "great opportunity" for Venerable leaders, lecturers, monks and nuns, Buddhists and people to have the opportunity to donate blood to save lives, practice Bodhisattva charity; respond to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. This is also a good tradition that has been continuously organized by the Vietnam Buddhist Academy and the Central Committees, Institutes, Executive Committees of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in provinces/cities; pagodas, monasteries and Buddhist educational institutions in recent times.
