On November 24, the City Children's Hospital (HCMC) announced that the patient CNBL (5 years old, living in Tay Ninh ) was hospitalized on August 17 after his father poured gasoline on his rented room and set it on fire, and is now stable.
Previously, at around 6am on August 17, Cao Tran Kim D. (37 years old) - the child's father (separated and not living with the mother and children) brought gasoline to the room where the mother and children were staying and poured it on themselves and around the bedroom, then lit a fire, causing all four people to suffer severe burns.
Child patient CNBL and her sister CNQG (13 years old) were taken to the emergency room in a state of severe burns. The 13-year-old girl was diagnosed with II-III degree burns covering about 45-50% of her body, severe swelling, exposed conjunctiva, signs of burn wound infection, risk of septic shock, heart rate 160 beats/minute and coal dust in the airway, severe damage.

A 5-year-old boy suffered from second-third degree burns covering about 80% of his body, including burns to his respiratory tract. Hair was burned on both sides, face was burned, eyelids and lips were swollen, burns were all over his body, including his head, face, neck, and torso. His limbs changed color from white to burnt gray, his bottom was pale white, bleeding, his skin was peeling in many places, and the burn had a lot of coal dust stuck to it. His genitals were burned on both sides, and his groin area was deeply damaged, with a red-white bottom and stiff, swollen limbs.
The patient was quickly treated with endotracheal intubation to help with breathing, anti-shock with electrolytes, albumin, vasopressor adrenaline, antibiotics, pain relief, sedation, burn wound care and dressing, and transferred to the intensive care unit for further treatment.

The patient was then transferred to an isolation room, given a ventilator, circulatory support, fluid replacement, burn wound VAC placement, allogeneic skin graft (from a relative), intravenous nutrition, and feeding through a gastric tube.
Thanks to the care of the team of doctors, nurses and the support of the skin grafting team of Cho Ray Hospital, after 96 days of treatment, baby CNBL gradually recovered, the burn wounds gradually healed, the baby received psychological examination and physical therapy to avoid scar contracture.
It is known that the baby's father, mother and sister all did not survive, only the baby was lucky to overcome the critical stage and recover.
