On May 4, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Le Dinh Binh - Deputy Director of the Construction Investment Project Management Board of Hoang Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province - said that this unit has directed the construction unit to remove all screws and fix the damaged and unsafe situation for tourists at the 5 hand-shaped watchtowers on Hai Tien beach.

According to Mr. Binh, the five hand-shaped watchtowers along the beach are part of the project to renovate and upgrade the coastal road of Hoang Tien and Hoang Thanh communes, Hoang Hoa district. These watchtowers have an investment of 300 million VND from the district budget. The watchtowers are in the process of completion.
Explaining the appearance of screws and peeling rubber mattresses, Mr. Binh said that during the April 30-May 1 holiday, due to the large number of tourists flocking to Hai Tien, the district directed the construction unit to temporarily attach a rubber mattress to the base of the watchtower to ensure that tourists could swim in the sea.

"These mattresses were temporarily installed during the holidays, when the waves hit, they peeled off the rubber layers, revealing jagged screws. After receiving feedback, the local authorities directed the construction unit to remove all the screws and at the same time stretch ropes around the watchtower to prevent tourists from approaching," Mr. Binh informed.

Mr. Binh also admitted that because the towers are not yet completed, there are no guards or security forces on duty. This causes many tourists to carelessly climb up the towers to take pictures and watch the sea, which is unsafe.
"Regarding this, we have suggested that the construction unit add a door to lock the stairs. Only security guards can go up, and tourists are not allowed to climb up to the watchtower anymore," said Mr. Binh.
According to Mr. Binh, these watchtowers are expected to be completed in May to protect and monitor tourists swimming in the sea.

Previously, Dan Tri reported that during the April 30-May 1 holiday, many tourists swimming at Hai Tien beach were surprised by the appearance of 5 hand-shaped watchtowers, and freely climbed up to take pictures.
In addition, many tourists are afraid and worried because of the series of screws appearing at the base of the watchtower, many places have peeled off rubber cushions, making it dirty.
