In their first season without a major trophy since 2016/17, chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has pledged that the club will pump money into coach Pep Guardiola to strengthen his squad this summer.
Erling Haaland will be the main nucleus in the "glorious decade" project of the Etihad team, after signing an extension until 2034.
"We will come back with the aim of building a stronger team," said Mr Khaldoon.

In the last winter transfer window, Man City spent 172 million pounds to bring in 4 new players: Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Nico Gonzalez.
President Khaldoon added: "The club has identified who the target is, in what position and has clear first and second choices.
We will continue our work and everything needs to be done quickly. Man City will be ready with a new squad for the Club World Cup in mid-June."
