This is not only an academic work, but is also expected to be a professional document for doctors on their journey of practicing, studying and teaching. Each image is a slice of reality, each annotation is a layer of accumulated knowledge that contributes to increasing confidence, improving the effectiveness of diagnosis and treatment for public health.

“Ultrasound Atlas – Volume 2” is 552 pages long, with more than 2,000 real illustrations from clinical cases compared using various diagnostic tools. Ultrasound images are annotated in focus, the theory is summarized concisely, helping readers to access easily and apply effectively. The book’s content focuses on specialized topics, including: urinary system ultrasound; ultrasound and biopsy; spleen and pancreas ultrasound; thyroid and breast ultrasound; BI-RADS and TI-RADS; lymph node ultrasound and superficial ultrasound; musculoskeletal ultrasound; gastrointestinal ultrasound; liver and biliary ultrasound; abdominal vascular ultrasound, etc.

In particular, the book has many images of rare diseases, specialized techniques such as transrectal prostate biopsy. This is a technique that is not yet widely popular in Vietnam, fully presented with clear illustrations and clinical notes.

According to Dr. Nguyen Quang Thai Duong, when I was in school, I dreamed of a practical Atlas book. Many textbooks were heavy on theory, with few illustrations and only typical ones. In reality, the same pathology has extremely diverse visual manifestations. Now that I have the opportunity to approach many aspects of the disease, to teach, and to work, I want to gather them together so that I can not only study better but also share with my colleagues, especially doctors at the grassroots level and in remote areas, who are in great need of practical support tools like this.

In this edition, the book also has young doctors who were once students and now colleagues contributing content. This companionship demonstrates the spirit of inheritance in medical training and the spread of knowledge from clinical practice. “Ultrasound Atlas – Volume 2” is classified as a monograph, aimed at many audiences from medical students to specialized doctors.

With ultrasound images accounting for more than 95% of the content, the book can be used as a reference in teaching, an illustration in clinical training, as well as a tool to support professional practice. In particular, volume 2 also lays the foundation for the next part of the book series. Volume 3 is expected to be released in 2026, focusing in depth on interventional ultrasound and non-surgical treatment of liver cancer - a field that has become a prominent strength of the Vascular Intervention Unit of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital as well as the trend of "minimally invasive - maximum efficiency" in the field of Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Nguyen Quang Thai Duong graduated as a General Practitioner from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City in 1997. He then continued to graduate in the United States in the field of Diagnostic Ultrasound, receiving the ARDMS certificate of practice in ultrasound in the United States in 2002 with the following specialties: general ultrasound, echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, neuroultrasound, breast ultrasound, eye ultrasound. Returning to Vietnam in 2003, he has worked at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City until now.

With more than two decades of experience in the field of ultrasound and interventional imaging, Dr. Nguyen Quang Thai Duong is known as a pioneer in the application of minimally invasive techniques in the treatment of liver diseases, contributing to the formation of the Vascular Intervention Unit - one of the first specialized models in the country.
