The China Rice Research Center under the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Central Plains Research Center have jointly promoted the new super rice variety "Jia heyou No. 5" to boost grain yields and farmers' income.
According to VNA, "Gia Hoa Uu No. 5" was selected and crossbred by the Rice Research Center between rice and glutinous rice. "Gia Hoa Uu No. 5" has well-developed stems, beautiful leaves, super high yield, superior rice quality, and a distinctive rice flavor and aroma.
This rice variety has been tested in Xinyang City, Henan Province, and has yielded positive results, contributing to the improvement of the rice processing industry in southern Henan.
In the future, the China Rice Research Institute and the Central Plains Research Center will continue to research, evaluate, and expand the scale of experimental planting, strengthen training and technology transfer, and help farmers grasp key techniques to improve crop efficiency.
Rice is one of the most important foods for the Chinese people. Over the past five decades, the area of hybrid rice cultivation developed in China has increased to over 600 million hectares, boosting total rice production to over 800 million tons per year. Currently, the average yield per 0.067 hectares of hybrid rice per crop in China is at a certain level.
