Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan (My Son area, block 9, Dong Kinh ward) shared: Receiving information from the electricity industry about the electricity index used in the month and the amount to be paid, the family was startled because the electricity bill for August 2025 increased by nearly 1 million VND compared to the previous month. The family made a complaint to the customer care system of Lang Son Electricity Company, immediately after that, the Lang Son Electricity Management Team sent staff down and together with the family re-measured. During the process of measuring and re-checking the family meter index and monitoring the measurement work, it was found that the electricity staff completely used electronic devices to measure without affecting the electricity meter, thus, the measurement of the index was very transparent and the family completely agreed on the index used.
In fact, recently, in order to improve transparency in recording electricity meter readings, Lang Son Electricity Company has replaced electromechanical meters with electronic meters.
Currently, Lang Son Electricity Company is managing 268,895 meters, including 2,046 internal 3-phase electronic meters and 266,849 meters selling electricity to customers. As of August 31, 2025, the company has organized the replacement and installation of 266,608 new meters, of which 257,153 electronic meters have been installed with remote data collection systems (reaching 96.45% of the total number of electricity meters).
Discussing this issue, Mr. Tran Xuan Quang, Head of Business Department, Lang Son Electricity Company said: The implementation of electronic meters helps improve data transparency and communication with customers, providing full tools for customers to self-check and adjust electricity usage for the purpose of saving energy.
Mr. Vu Khanh Toan, Deputy Director of Lang Son Electricity Company, said: Implementing comprehensive digital transformation in the electricity industry, the Company has focused on implementing digital transformation in the business and customer service sectors. In particular, the "digitalization" of monthly electricity meter readings has been carried out by the company for about the past 5 years. The company has focused on replacing almost all previous mechanical electricity meters with electronic meters that collect data remotely. Thanks to that, meter reading data is transmitted to the server system daily, hourly and is used, exploited and provided to customers through customer care applications on phones and smart electronic devices.
Lang Son is one of the northern mountainous provinces that has implemented the replacement of electronic meters at a high rate. In particular, the use of a centralized data collection device (DCU) to collect data and manage all electronic meters in a transformer station has helped electricity staff record the electricity usage index of each customer without having to directly impact the meter. In addition to using the DCU device to automatically collect electricity indexes, the company is now also using a handheld index recording device, connected to a tablet to extract meter data without affecting the customer's electricity meter. The "digitalization" in the measurement and recording of electricity meter indexes has helped increase transparency in this "sensitive" stage.
