The Ho Chi Minh City Statistics Office has just released a report on the socio -economic situation in August and the first 8 months of 2023. Accordingly, in August, economic sectors in the city created jobs for 26,607 people, bringing the total number of jobs created in the first 8 months to 216,398 people, reaching 72.1% of the yearly plan.
Of these, 11,852 new jobs were created, bringing the total number of new jobs in 8 months to 96,750, reaching 69.1% of the yearly plan.
The labor sector also received 16,617 applications for unemployment benefits and issued decisions on unemployment benefits for 16,409 workers.
Since the beginning of the year, the city has received 99,206 applications for unemployment benefits, and issued decisions on unemployment benefits for 93,877 workers.
Thus, compared to July, the number of cases applying for unemployment benefits decreased by 1,112 cases, the number of people receiving unemployment benefits decreased by 2,060 people.

However, compared to the same period last year, the number of cases applying for unemployment benefits increased by 2,787 cases, the number of people receiving unemployment benefits increased by 2,960 people.
Comparing the first 8 months of 2023 with the first 8 months of 2022, the number of cases applying for unemployment benefits increased by 7,853 cases, the number of people receiving unemployment benefits increased by 6,211 people.
