Overview of the 2024 work summary conference

At the Conference, Comrade Pham Nam Tuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, presented a summary report on the 2024 work of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

In 2024, closely following the goals and tasks of foreign affairs in the spirit of the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels, the Department of Foreign Affairs has advised the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to lead, direct and effectively organize foreign affairs and state management of territorial borders in the province, ensuring a harmonious combination between Party Foreign Affairs - Government Diplomacy - People's Diplomacy. The results show that foreign relations and international cooperation between Lao Cai province and foreign partners continue to be maintained, developed and achieved many achievements. Cooperative and friendly relations with localities with traditional relations such as Yunnan province (China), Nouvelle Aquitaine region (France), Brest province (Belarus) are actively promoted; Cooperative relations with new localities of Japan, Korea, India and other foreign partners, including international organizations, major financial institutions, diplomatic representative agencies of countries in Vietnam, economic groups and foreign enterprises are actively expanded.

As of December 2024, the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs has successfully advised and organized 07 provincial leadership delegations to go on business trips abroad, all of which were successfully organized and achieved many good results. The Department has also advised and coordinated procedures to allow more than 350 foreign and international delegations to visit and work in the province. Advised and organized delegations led by provincial leaders to attend foreign affairs events held domestically with high efficiency.

In 2024, the Department advised and coordinated the organization of many major foreign affairs events of the province. Some typical programs and events include: The 4th annual conference between the Provincial Party Secretaries of Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Lai Chau, Dien Bien provinces (Vietnam) and Yunnan province (China); The 10th meeting of the Joint Working Group between Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Lai Chau, Dien Bien provinces (Vietnam) and Yunnan province (China); The program of cultural exchange to welcome Spring across the border and the Vietnam - China Border People's Festival in 2024; The conference "Meeting Thailand" in Lao Cai province; International Yoga Day in 2024, the program "Red River Festival - Vietnam - China Cooperation Week in the Red River Basin" in 2024; The China - Vietnam Border Economic - Trade and Tourism Fair (Hong Ha) in 2024...

In addition, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Lao Cai province has actively advised and implemented the contents of 03 legal documents on the Vietnam - China land border; Minutes of meetings of the Vietnam - China Land Border Joint Committee. Implementing the instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Border Committee, the Vietnam Sub-Committee, relevant ministries and branches. The Department has also proactively discussed and requested border districts and cities in the province to deploy border construction works, resolve incidents arising on the border. Coordinate with functional forces to organize the firm protection of territorial sovereignty and border security according to legal documents on borders, border gates, etc.

After listening to the summary report of the Department of Foreign Affairs' work in 2024 and the main directions and tasks in 2025, representatives of the leaders of the departments, branches and localities of the province basically agreed and highly appreciated the results that the Department of Foreign Affairs has achieved. Delegates attending the Conference also made recommendations and proposals for the Department of Foreign Affairs to continue implementing its tasks, in order to successfully complete its tasks in the coming time. Officials and civil servants of the Department of Foreign Affairs also expressed their opinions and proposed a number of contents related to professional work, technical work, and internal work for departments, branches, localities and the People's Committee of Lao Cai province.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that foreign affairs in Vietnam are highly valued and play an active role in the country's socio-economic development. Locally, especially in Lao Cai province - which shares a border with China, foreign affairs and border management are extremely necessary, important, and must be implemented effectively.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the foreign affairs and border work activities that the Department of Foreign Affairs chaired and advised on in 2024; at the same time, he set out a number of foreign affairs tasks that need to be focused on in 2025.
