Mr. Nong Ngoc Lam, Secretary of the Dong Kinh Ward Youth Union, said: From the beginning of summer 2025 until now, we have organized more than 80 summer activities, attracting over 3,000 children to participate. Compared to last summer, this year's summer activities have 70% more children participating.
Not only Dong Kinh Ward Youth Union, in recent times, grassroots youth unions in the province have been implementing many exciting and attractive playgrounds. Cultural houses of blocks, villages, and residential areas have become familiar meeting places for children on weekends.
Mr. Doan Thanh Cong, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Youth Union, Head of the Youth Union and Children's Affairs Department of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, said: In May 2025, the Provincial Youth Union issued and implemented a plan to organize activities in response to the Month of Action for Children and summer activities for children with 8 basic targets. In particular, focusing on disseminating laws related to children; organizing recreational activities, equipping children with skills... Thereby, aiming to guide children to meaningful and practical activities in the summer.
During the 2025 summer vacation, the whole province will have about 150,000 students transferred from schools to live in residential areas, blocks, and villages, of which nearly 30,000 are high school students, the rest are primary and secondary school students. In order to effectively implement summer activities, in May 2025, the district and city youth unions (before implementing the two-level local government model) organized training on professional work of the youth union, association, and team for the secretaries, deputy secretaries of the youth union of blocks, villages, residential areas, and team leaders. Implementing the plan to organize summer activities for children, the youth unions of wards and communes have established volunteer teams and developed specific activity themes for each week and each session.
In the summer of 2025, the ward and commune delegations organized many playgrounds suitable for the interests of children such as: swimming lessons; organizing chess and Chinese chess tournaments; folk dance, modern dance; sports such as badminton, soccer, jogging; folk and modern games... Depending on the needs of children, summer activities are flexibly organized in the morning, afternoon or evening. At the same time, children are also encouraged to participate in community activities such as environmental sanitation; visiting red addresses such as historical sites, cultural relics, museums, memorial houses; visiting historical witnesses, policy families...
Ha Duy Anh, Lung Man village, Bang Mac commune said: I really look forward to participating in summer activities, because here, I am instructed on skills to prevent common accidents at home such as burns, electric shock, insect bites, falls due to climbing, etc. I also get to play fun games such as blindfolded goat buff, jump rope, and shuttlecock kicking. I hope there will be more activities so that we can have fun more often.
As of mid-July 2025, the province has organized more than 600 summer activities in residential areas with about 40,000 children participating. Organizing summer activities in residential areas not only contributes to creating a healthy playground for students but also helps families manage and direct children to useful activities. With the support of all levels of the Youth Union, children in the province have had and are having useful and interesting summer days.
